The whole right wing push right now seems to be a about making people ashamed of their bodies, sexuality, gender identity, etc just shows that they don't care about anyone other than their base of religious conservatives. These people think that their "morals" are some kind of fact. |
| Yes, my mom thought she was dying when she got her period at school, and so did the other kids. After a while playground ran into school screaming, Mom said the teacher has to tell her what was going on. Ah, the "good old days." |
| Meanwhile, I complained to the middle school that their schedule is ludicrous and doesn't allow nearly enough time for any bathroom break, no less one that includes changing out hygiene products. The vice principal said they did a "study" and found they could get to one end of campus to the other in two minutes. Without crowded hallways, etc. in a school that is so overcrowded that they're building a relief middle school less than a mile away. Her solution to that was that my daughter should announce to her teachers that she's on her period every single month so that she doesn't get docked for being late. I asked this female vice principal if she relished in the idea of announcing that when she was in middle school.... We're not just saddled with evil republicans. We're saddled with teachers and such and who actually hate kids. |
It’s also a way to keep molestation and sexual assault victims quiet. People have a hard enough time verbalizing the trauma; now take away the practice in talking about your body, about knowing your own boundaries, take away any idea of consent. Voila. An old fashioned victim far less likely to talk. |
