You have a naive, simplistic view of mental and physical health. Excluding people like models, the people who are seeking appetite control medications are already at the point where they need to lose weight for health reasons. They shouldn't be made to do all this 'deep mental work' prior to being prescribed medication. The 'work' can be done at the same time the medication is used so they can benefit from the weight loss while learning to implement a healthy lifestyle. This is no different than someone being prescribed medication for depression. By the time they're in a depression, it's extremely difficult for them to battle their way out using non-pharmacological means. It is a best practice to treat the depression with medication while, at the same time, implementing the lifestyle changes needed to support good mental health. For those who are pre-disposed to depression, good mental health habits sometimes just aren't enough and they develop depression in spite of their efforts. Symptoms should be treated/managed/controlled until the root cause has been identified and attempts to remediate it. Sometimes, the cause cannot be remediated without medication. |
I’m tracking my calories only consuming 1400 calories a day and haven’t lost any weight yet in the 2 1/2 weeks on semiglutide. Hope to start loosing weight soon. I’m trying to eat healthy but I have had a lot of stress lately so maybe that is stalling my progress. |
