I’m on week 9, no appetite reduction whatsoever, and yes I have diabetes, so please don’t come at me about shortages. Really hoping for some help here!
I’ve had type 2 for about a decade, but once I lost 100 pounds on ww, I was able to control it with food and went off metformin. Last summer (please don’t judge) I made a terrible decision to start drinking Coca Cola mini again. One a day, a little treat, yes I know that’s awful and my a1c went up to 10.7. Immediately went on ozempic in January, and so far I’ve had zero side effects, zero appetite suppression, and zero weight loss. I just did my first shot of 2.0 today, and after that I really want to switch to Mounjaro. Yes the most important thing is lowering my a1c, but I still would love to lose another 40/50 pounds. My dosing was: week 1-3: 0.25, week 4-5: 0.5, week 6: 0.75, week 7-8: 1.0, and now today 2.0. This is now at the Wegovy dose for weight loss, so I’m really hopefully I will start to have some reduction in appetite. Has anyone else experienced this? I just reading on Reddit about all these people losing so much weight, starting out the first week. Yet here I am 2+ months in and haven’t lost a pound. I know I also need to do the work and I have joined WW (always exercised but I know it’s about the food not exercise). Anyone else out there not losing with ozempic? |
I am on week 2 and am already seeing decreased appetite. There are great FB groups where you can probably get better information than on DCUM. Also, I am not diabetic and got my semaglutide at a compounding pharmacy and it's funny how triggered people get.
Highly recommend the Semaglutide support group on fb. |
I have been on Ozempic for over a year and have barely lost 20 pounds (and I have a lot to lose). |
Op here again - Thank you for your response! I’m in LA, so literally everyone here is on ozempic. A lot of people who are having extreme weight losses are getting it from medspas, using the compounded formula. I wonder if that’s better for weight loss or if it’s just better in general for people without diabetes?
Thank you for the FB group recommendation. I’ll check it out! |
Oh no! Is your a1c at least going down? I wonder if Mounjaro would be better for those of us who haven’t lost on ozempic. |
Op again - Forgot to mention I have zero judgement of non-diabetics using ozempic. Maybe if I’d had access to it, I wouldn’t have ended up with diabetes! I also have never experienced a shortage (Los Angeles). It’s always available to me same day. |
I have only been on it for 3 weeks but it worked instantly for me and I am still on the 1/4 dose (from a compounder). I am prediabetic and about 30 lbs overweight. I won't have a blood test to test A1c levels for another 6 weeks.
I've lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks and am eating probably about half of what I did before. I'm sure it will slow down over time. I am definitely beaing careful about what I eat and exercising, and haven't really been hungry, but have been a little weak after exercising so I probably need more calories. |
I’m on Mounjaro and belong to several Mounjaro/Ozempic/Wegovy groups.
I’ve seen people lose very slowly and very fast and everything in between. Some people don’t respond to the low doses at all and only see weight loss at the top doses. Give it 4 weeks on 2mg and ask about trying Mounjaro - it works on two hormones and some people see more success on it vs Ozempic. Reddit is a great resource too. |
My neighbor is on semiglutenide (not a brand name) and she's been complaining of a stall. She's only lost 7 lbs so far but now, nothing. She just went up to 2 a week or so ago and is hoping that helps. |
A suggestion, and you might want to post this in the Health Forum, a specialized forum, and ask your doctor.
Since you have been diagnosed with diabetes, and have been taking a medication for the diabetes, you might get useful responses if you ask people who have been diagnosed with diabetes and who take Wegovy for diabetes, what there experiences with weight loss have been — since they are likely to be different from the experiences of people without diabetes who are taking the same medication. There are differences in dosages, but also differences in pancreatic functioning, I would imagine, that might impact weight loss. Have you discussed this with your doctor? |
No fool |
You really need to start getting more creative with your comebacks. |
I’m also experiencing this! No weight loss and I’m on 2.0 - so frustrating! |
I'm on the .5 dose of wegovy. I would describe it as enough appetite suppression that its easier to make good choices. Kind of like it takes the edge of my hunger and mental obsession over food but its still there. But if I wasn't motivated to loose weight and make good choices I could easily see no change. I've lost about 6-7 pounds in 7 weeks which I'm happy about. |
Exactly. You can't continue to eat crap and wonder why you can't lose weight even while on a drug. Look at the people who get surgery and still gain the weight back. When will people take responsibility for their choices? |
