Like what, my dear? Which stances of Democrats who matter are too far left? Who is advocating for violent criminals to be out on the street? Which elected Democrats say crime is no big deal?

Because from where I sit, I see the police - generally a pretty conservative group - having gotten shirty that many people were calling for accountability in the wake of George Floyd’s murder and those same police just decided they didn’t need to do their jobs. Then I watched the videos of police officers fail to do any policing when children were being mowed down while simultaneously preventing parents from rushing in to save their children. Then I think of the thousands of anecdotes I’ve read about the police just not doing their jobs - telling rape victims (in modern times!) they’re mistaken and that they’re not going to investigate, flat out ignoring calls of break ins and violent assaults on the street and you want to sit here and blame the Democrats because you can’t figure out that nobodies on Twitter mean nothing?

Or you want to go real broad strokes and whine about the border, the border that is absolutely not open or the broader issue of Republicans loving the red meat issue and the profits undocumented employers bring their donors?

I brought up the GOP and they’re harboring hundreds of criminals among the elected in their party upthread and I stand by that. That’s one entire party that openly supports crime and you want everyone to focus on the Democrats?

JFC. Save us from the “lifelong Dems” and “classic liberals” like Maher, aka conservatives.

Have you been listening to Lori Lightfoot? George Gascon? Prosecutors that refuse to do their jobs and no cash bail for violent offenders? Yes. It's real. Do you even know these exist?

Try some material outside of your echo chamber.

Hopefully Congress can put a stop to this. It will save lives in marginalized communities.

Do you want to win elections, pp?

Both Maher and I want Dems to win.

Republicans are far better than Dems at messaging. Facts don’t matter. People worry about their safety and their wallet. Republicans realize that and they adopt uniform talking points fueling fear and painting Dems as the villain.

Facts don’t matter. Perception is everything.

Some Dem-led cities have obvious issues and recent horrific headlines that Rs will use against Ds. Crime and immigration are the two issues they will use. They’ll pepper their rhetoric with “the woke left is crazy” and then show images of riots, drugged out homeless people, hundreds of migrants crossing the border, etc. and then highlight recent incidents.

Remember when Maher predicted Trump’s win? Remember when he predicted that Trump would go easily if he lost?

If you watch Maher and really listen to what he’s saying, you’ll realize that he’s really focusing on party rhetoric and messaging—because that’s what wins campaigns. He’s pointing out areas that Rs will leverage, and we should listen.

Most Americans are moderate, not far right or far left. Defund the police messaging (regardless of the actual policy) backfired, and Rs will use it against us. That’s a fact. And they have plenty of ammunition. Doubling down on police brutality won’t win votes.

Any reason you ignored all my questions? I will re-list them:

- Which stances of Democrats who matter are too far left?
- Who is advocating for violent criminals to be out on the street?
- Which elected Democrats say crime is no big deal?

DA's are diverting cases, supporting more parole bids, refusing to prosecute whole classes of crimes, requesting less pre-trial detention, even for repeat offenders. Who?

Kim Gardner in St. Louis, Eric Gonzales in Brooklyn, John Creuzot in Dallas, Wesley Bell in St. Louis, Rachel Rollins in Boston, Marilyn Mosby in Baltimore. They're all following their own policies and circumventing laws. We don't need more laws to fix this. We need the laws in place to be enforced.

Let's not act like soft-on-crime is not happening.

Exactly. The gaslighting is... well, so typical.

Meanwhile it has consistently been REPUBLICANS who have blocked every single attempt at common sense legislation to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, the mentally ill, unstable teenagers, and so on. It's REPUBLICANS who allow private sales and transfers of guns to felons gangbangers and criminals with no background checks and no questions asked, it's REPUBLICANS who fight legislation that would make it easier to track and trace guns in order to shut down the underground black market of illegal guns being used by criminals.

Republicans are the reason these criminals, lunatics and mass shooters keep getting easy access to guns. It's been a total nightmare FOR THE WHOLE COUNTRY.

Meanwhile what? Stop rewarding bad behavior by punishing the group. I know that's your answer to crime, but no.

Republicans make it easy to obtain guns but then throw the book at people who commit gun crimes. Democrats make it impossible to get guns but let people walk after committing a gun crime. Make it make sense!!

Easy? You know what form 4473 is?

Can we have that for voting also if it's so easy?

Don’t need it for private sales.

Sorry but literally every single gun ever used in a mass shooting once started out as a "gun responsibly owned by the good guys with guns." The group cannot be trusted until the group stops letting criminals and lunatics have guns.

Exactly. And how is it you think so many guns flood the streets of cities like Chicago and DC, which try to have strict gun laws?
Because there are a ludicrous number of private sales and private transfers that are legal and protected by Republicans. That is how most criminals get their guns - via private transaction.

Pointing at one bad plea deal by some random DA is not at all the winning argument you seem to think it is.

Yeah whatever. We've seen your tired over-used list of those same 4 or 5 examples of bad DAs prepared by some Soros obsessed far-right nutjob a million times.

But meanwhile it's EVERY Republican, opposing EVERY attempt at common-sense gun legislation.
