Yes I agree he looks better than I was expecting. Thank God he will survive.

He also looks kind of like he's holding something in his arm which hopefully means he isn't paralyzed, at least not fully.

Probably a phone.

More details on his injuries.
They sound horrible, but all things considered, he was very lucky!

Wonderful news!

I hope they can manage his pain effectively. This is the kind of accident that often leads to long term issues with pain medication. It’s just so hard to manage the pain without opioids but being on opioids long term is so risky. Thankfully we know a lot more about it now than doctors did 20 years ago and I’m sure he will have access to excellent care. Some day when he’s through all this I think it would be wonderful if he could speak about the pain management problem so that other survivors can benefit from whatever his providers end up recommending.

He is 52. Bones just do not heal the same and arthritis sets in. He is likely in for a lot of aches and pains for years to come. Sounds like he is progressing well and given the lack of casts in the pictures, I am guessing a lot of those 30 bones were ribs. Painful but once healed shouldn't be too bad.

Hope he is being careful about addiction and over medicating.

Wow, so the doctors were able to save his leg!

I was also surprised to hear that he apparently didn’t need an amputation. I hope that’s true. I have a close relative who had an amputation after a traumatic accident, and while he’s doing great it was a tough road for a while. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Jeremy Renner has been through quite a lot even if no amputations. I’m rooting for his recovery. Only thing I saw him in was great movie about FBI vs North Dakota (?) people who murdered indigenous women. Powerful movie.

I am happy he’s doing better. I do question though, why anyone would need a Pistenbully to clear his private property. It came out today that he forgot to use the hand break and that’s why the Pistenbully started sliding.

Wow incredible about the amputation. He must have been protected in some way by the depth of the snow? Happy to hear it he is incredibly lucky!

I just saw a promo for his interview with Diane Sawyer.

Someone on here was so adamant about how he was going to need an amputation. It was a wild thread of so much certainty that turned out to be so wrong. That said, this seems like quite a catastrophic incident I have no doubt he will have health issues for the rest of his life. But this thread is in some ways a good check on how much DCUM can get wrong.
