When did your student find out and by whom/how?

DP with a base school kid. Mine was emailed a congrats from the counselor and told to come by the subschool to pick up the certificate. A list of commended was included in the principals weekly email.

This doesn’t even make sense. By that logic, anything the principal does that warrants criticism makes her a bigot because she is a principal at a school that happens to have mostly Asian kids.

She’s a legit author. Google her and TJ. The article is based on facts if she wrote it.

No, she's a Trumphumper who pushing RWNJ propaganda.

This is not how an intelligent person responds to facts.

The fact is she used to be a legit journalist. Now she’s a Trumphumper who pushes RWNJ propaganda.

I can't stand people who respond to issues with name calling. When you respond to issues with personal attacks like racist, sexist, transphobic, groomer, left-wing, right-wing, maga....it just means you don't have a valid argument to stand on, or you're just incapable of making a valid argument. If you don't agree that the TJ administration is wrong, why don't you explain why rather than tear down the messenger?

I was responding to the inaccurate comment above: “She’s a legit author.”

Whatever credibility she had is long gone. Total Trumphumper.

So...because she supports Trump...her story isn't credible? It seems the TJ administration's response implies the veracity of her reporting. If you disagree with an aspect of her story, you should articulate that. Otherwise, it's just noise. Defining her by the political candidate she supports only means something in your own mind, and not necessarily to others. (I didn't vote for Trump, btw) Imagine if I called you a Bidenhumper? How stupid would I be to say that? It would add nothing to this discussion, other than to show that I'm stupid and inarticulate.

She pushes RWNJ propaganda. Period. She has been pushing Trump and using dubious tactics for years. She abused her position in TJ PTA and has gone to great lengths to push her agenda. She is willing to harm kids for her political agenda. Those are just the facts.

Most intelligent people evaluate their news sources to understand the underlying bias. Her bias and her vulgar actions have destroyed her credibility.

Just because you’re ok with her being a Trumphumper doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t have standards.

The things the principal does that warrant criticism stem from her being anti-Asian and feeling the need to play white savior when it comes to other students.

Voted for Biden but appreciate Asra calling attention to the rampant bigotry and the increasing culture of low expectations within FCPS. The local Democrats and their cronies like Bonitatubus are ruining our schools.

I do not understand the dislike some people have for this principal. And it is frankly ridiculous to assert she is anti-Asian when 2/3 of the school is Asian. We’re at TJ and I like her. I also like her push to try to make TJ less of a grind and hyper competitive landscape. Kids should do what they want and be challenged but feeling like they have to constantly run faster to keep up with the person next to them is not the feeling to be encouraged. The principal seems to understand that and to realize that toning down the crazy a bit at TJ will make it a better experience for the kids there.

I’ve evaluated other news sources and find that the coverage of FCPS by the Post and Hannah Natanson in particular is sporadic at best, and biased when visible. It’s a good thing there are alternative sources when the leading paper in the area has basically allowed itself to function as a PR wing for FCPS and makes little effort to dig deeper or verify the facts.

She supported efforts that were deliberately designed to make the school less Asian so big logic fail on your part.

Can't address the content, so you attack the site. Typical elitist prick behavior.

It's a apparently this wonderful fringe news site that publishes alternative facts.

Do you say the same thing about WTOP? https://wtop.com/fairfax-county/2022/12/fairfax-county-public-schools-didnt-notify-tjs-national-merit-commended-students-school-system-says-working-to-remedy-situation/

Providing confirmation for a news article posted by a right-winger is haram, so WTOP must also be cast to the outer darkness. Stick with reliable sources, like Occupy Democrats.

You ultimately received notice, these kids did not and the commendation was not forwarded to colleges. This can be a huge deal such as when my grad school forgot to forward their recommendation on my PMF application. I was SOL because the school failed to take action.

The "commended" cutoff is 207. This is about the same score that some states (Montana, West Virginia, North Dakota) have for their semi finalist cutoff. So basically these "commended" students would actually be semi finalists if they lived in other states. It's a way of acknowledging that.

She testified before Congress last week and has been published in the New York Times and the WSJ. She also now has almost 100K followers online.

You, on the other hand, are a one-trick pony who posts anonymously on a little-read forum for bored moms and somehow thinks you’re scoring wins when you call someone a silly name.

Your TJ kid about to be kicked out because there are too many smart Asian kids in your kids' classes?
