You usually don't broadcast information to all the parents at a school when you're trying to conceal it. |
This isn’t like a year (or more) ago. Most people aren’t testing and/or getting knocked out. It presents like a cold in most people, and they act accordingly (i.e., keep on keeping on). |
I am about to go stay with my 90 year old inlaws. If I had symptoms I would test, no Covid, I would go. Covid I would not. |
It's a good thing that 90-year-olds don’t sick from influenza/RSV... |
It’s not mandatory anymore so why would people fill it out. Who really wants to give up their private health information if it’s not required. I was fine with filling out the form before it was voluntary. But since it’s voluntary and we are not going to have accurate counts I’m not doing it if my kid gets covid. What’s the purpose? |
I still don’t understand why you would visits 90yos if you were sick in any way. Just stay home. Even colds can hit hard at that age. |
It was never "mandatory." |
Yes, thankfully we don’t live in China. People could (or not) self-report when they wanted. And opt out of testing in school, if desired. Thank goodness. |

My kid's teacher just caught it. Pre-existing conditions, begged kids to mask in their class, had an air purifier, etc. It breaks my heart that some of you have raised your kids to be so terrible.
I bet there's a fairly overlapping ven diagram with the anti maskers and the pro BcC binder club too. |
Yes, the dashboards are an indicator to some (conciencious) people who actually do change their behavior when they are aware there is an ongoing issue. Other parents might (unlike a self-centered person like yourself) actually may encourage their kids to mask if they know there is an issue. But it's clear exactly what you are, so my expectations for people like you are not high at all. If there was a another serious outbreak, you wouldn't care, would you? If a senior teacher died, it's just accidental - not your fault, right? No worries - there are a lot of people like you in DC. |
But how is the dashboard useful to those people when the vast majority of cases are never identified on it? And I'm not talking about the absurd conspiracy theory that there's a cover-up. Most cases in kids are effectively asymptomatic, and likely are never even identified by the affected person. Of those that do get sick, many won't think to test. Of those that do test, many won't bother to report a positive test. I don't see how the dashboard is useful even to those particularly scared of covid. |
It’s not useful. It’s just being used as a prop by PP for another whiny rant. |
Was the teacher wearing a high quality mask? Both at school and elsewhere? |
Masks aren't perfect, that's why it's better when everyone wears them. |
Because if you have COVID you need to isolate at least 5 days (in our family we wait longer if rapid test isn't negative yet by 5 days.) With other illnesses we go back to work/school a day after we're better, or for mild colds don't stay home at all. Do you seriously not test anymore? Do you not act any differently if you're contagious with COVID that can hospitalize and kill people you spread it to, versus having a cold that just runs the risk of giving someone the sniffles? That's... a really interesting set of morals you've got there. |
