Dad (70s) communicating with younger (30s) woman- what is her motive?

Saying "she" has money is part of the set up. It's going to turn into "can you send me money? Mine is tied up, I'm waiting for it to come out of the market but it takes 3 days to enter back into my account and I need xyz today"

Op you HAVE to get your dad to stop. This is NOT going to end well. Everyday this goes on is a major risk to his financial security. I can text him if he's lonely!

Your poor Father!!

This is definitely a scam - could possibly be from overseas like Nigeria, but šŸ’Æ% definitely a scam.

It may not even be a woman your Father is even communicating with, it could be a man or likely a large group of men.
These people take advantage of older adults.

They pretend they are rich, beautiful, etc. in order to scam people for money.
Your Father definitely needs to be able to spot a scam on dating sites because they are all over them!

Be proactive & teach your Father to be as well.
Otherwise he may lose his entire life savings w/no way to recoup it. šŸ™

DP. You PPs thinking the OP can simply grab her dad's phone and start blocking numbers etc. are being jerks. Maybe YOUR parents will just hand over their phones to you, or maybe you're fine digging around to steal a parent's phone, but it's entirely possible that an older person might refuse to hand over a phone even to their own adult child. And guess what? Some older users even know how to, gasp!, password protect and otherwise protect access to their phones and even their computers. I know! Amazing, right? But true. Stop claiming it's a piece of cake to "just block the scammers on Dad's phone" without dad's consent or passcodes.

+1 million.

Unless OP's dad has been legally declared mentally incompetent, she can't force him to do anything or interfere with his personal property.
