Your vote is a waste if you register anything other than D here. Vote for the most moderate D. -former R now Independent. I did switch to R during the primaries to vote for a non Trumplican, then switched back to D. Very easy to switch in MoCo, at least. |
Gotta love extremists who trash moderates for not being "moderate" enough. |

Shocking to see some trying to position Grace as a centrist type candidate. She is as establishment far left as it gets. She was hosted by the people pushing forever masking now in Fall 2022 as the best candidate for forever maskers.
The attacks on Wells (the only black immigrant running for BOE) are simply a witch hunt because the establishment will do anything to maintain power and prevent people from seeing all of the no bid contracts and other major financial issues going on at MCPS. They want parents to stay uninformed and they want to be able to hand pick candidates. They also didn't do their research on Grace as she didn't pay taxes for years and finally paid off over $100,000 in federal tax liens just last year and refuses to answer questions about that (https://cnsmaryland.org/2022/11/03/eleven-maryland-school-board-candidates-have-faced-tax-liens/). Note Wells had one too which she had from her divorce and paid off within 18 months (and importantly, answered questions on). |
You do know that there are over 1 million people in Montgomery County and only 17,000 in Takoma Park, right? |
What are you talking about? Heather sold her house in Takoma Park years ago and does not pretend like she lives there. |
Wow, I went almost exactly the same except Petoutka, who I found to be a much better candidate. But I also voted yes to marijuana, without hesitation. |
THIS! I voted for Wells and was so glad to have her as an option. |
There is a pretty strong history of At Large CMs like Riemer and Leventhal getting elected and re-elected based on nothing but support from Takoma Park and Silver Spring. Both tried their luck for CE and neither got any significant votes outside of Takoma Park and Silver Spring. |
Well, that's on the rest of the county for not voting. The only reason Takoma Park has outsized political influence is because people are very politically engaged and show up at the polls. |
Omg it’s a CHURCH! Most denominations oppose religious marriage for gay couples. Nothing to worry about with separation of church and state . |
First off, I believe in gay marriage. Second, this isn't "religious marriage". It's "homosexuality". They oppose BEING GAY. |
Let me introduce you to the Catholic Church. https://www.hrc.org/resources/stances-of-faiths-on-lgbt-issues-roman-catholic-church Homosexuality is a sin. Transgender identities are not recognized. No recognition of gay marriage. Gay people cannot be admitted to the clergy. It looks like in your rush to condemn this woman, you are being a religious bigot, unless you also make sure to go after Rivera-Oven’s Catholic faith. |
My denomination does not oppose religious marriage for gay couples, and I don’t approve of people who are on the board of an organization that opposes being gay. |
Grace Rivera-Oven is Catholic and the Catholic faith does absolutely renounce same sex marriage. Why the double standard? Do you have something against Black churches? |
| What about the Green Party candidates? They won’t win, but they might be worth looking at. |
