There is a pretty strong history of At Large CMs like Riemer and Leventhal getting elected and re-elected based on nothing but support from Takoma Park and Silver Spring. Both tried their luck for CE and neither got any significant votes outside of Takoma Park and Silver Spring.

Well, that's on the rest of the county for not voting. The only reason Takoma Park has outsized political influence is because people are very politically engaged and show up at the polls.[/quote]
