did you give him a bad review? That will help others, that's how uber works

nah, there is typically zero followup or concern about reckless driving. media and police seem to see it like a non-crime by default. an “accident.”

There was a ton of followup and concern when this happened in Chevy Chase DC recently.

No I didn't give him a bad review. He knew where I lived and he was probably crazy.

There was no follow up by the media re the Parthenon deaths. If you read the end of that thread it’s just people arguing about whether the elderly need to lose their license at a certain age, how to report them, etc.

I struck up conversations in Spanish with Uber drivers while on vacation in Orlando recently. 2 of the 3 drivers told me they were in the U.S. illegally (both from Venezuela.

Point is: Uber does not verify illegal status whatsoever.

Wonder what else they fail to check?

I wondered about that too. It seems like the Uber drivers are always foreign around here. One guy told me a funny story about how he came from Africa to the DMV and it sounded like he came through 'the back way'.

Last week I took an uber from Union Station into Alexandria via 395 and the driver wouldn't go over 40 mph. I thought he was having a medical emergency and we kept trying to talk to him, but he wouldn't pull over, wouldn't let us out, was clearly mentally unsound. He was talking to himself and basically driving so slow on the interstate that I was seriously scared someone would ram us in road rage. Cars giving us the finger another gestures, some getting super close to the bumper, others beeping like crazy.

Isn’t there a button on the app to let them know you’re in trouble, or something is wrong?

PP here. I don’t know, I have never heard of that. I rarely take Ubers and the cab line was soooo long at Union Station without enough cabs which is why we tried an Uber. Never again. Was completely crazy.

Or he was brown but the accident was caused by an Arlington bro grabbing the steering wheel after a dispute over directions.

Mentally ill cab drivers is what made me switch to Uber. Maybe now the cab drivers are sane and professional.

Oh no. The racist PP will be so disappointed.

Yeah a lot of the times when I see someone driving uncomfortably slow or clearly not knowing where they’re going, it seems to be a rideshare driver. Not sure what the solution is. I know they can get kicked off the app for having too many bad reviews but what until then?
