Really? This is like, the BARE MINIMUM in parent engagement. Any schools not doing this should be embarrassed.

Lol, okay. I am a Latin 1 parent and received the email.

Can you paste it in?

I am a Latin parent as well and got the email. But I feel uneasy posting internal school communications for anonymous vultures to pick through. Feel free to email or call the school and ask your questions if you care that much.

LOL. So it sounds like Latin families are the only ones on DCUM who post things without backing it up. Of all the people who should be getting this email are the copper families who someone on here said they did not get it.

What’s the big deal? General emails from school are posted here regularly.

This. I call BS. WTF would Latin tell only the kids at the campus that won't be impacted.

OP, you are my hero. Troll of the Year Award should be handed out right now. No one is going to top this effort.

Ha, I would love to be troll of the year but the email is real and posted up thread.

Pre-COVID, Yu Ying was actively looking for a second location to serve a greater population of students. The idea was not to re-create a second PK3-5 campus, but one lower elementary and one upper elementary. Parents were concerned it could create logistical issues with different drop offs for siblings etc. It seems this development would serve its families well, while increasing overall population.

Of course Latin would never locate among the great need of Ward 7 or 8. They will continue to serve families that know what lacrosse is.

Oh so people in ward 8 are too stupid to know what lacrosse is? Nice.

there is probably a little bit of truth to latin (the language) not having overwhelming appeal in wards 7 and 8

Interesting that CUA opted against acquiring it. And interesting that it's zoned residential.

This article is 🍌🍌🍌 I had no idea! Thanks for posting.

I'm super super curious why CUA didn't want it. Does the building have problems?

Not sure but CUA def has financial problems so I wouldn’t read to much into their passing on it.

Agreed. CUA has been selling off land to real estate developers for years. The school doesn’t appear interested in acquiring land. Plus, extensive renovations are being done to existing facilities and buildings.

Latin and YY are partnering on this purchase.

The proposed location is terrible. No grounds at all. Makes me glad we didn’t take a chance on Cooper.

I wonder how this news affects the waitlists for other middle school/high schools? I would think, regardless of your opinion about the space, an identified permanent space and collab with YY is a HUGE PLUS. I say this as the WL numbers have moved recently for both Latin (even main campus has moved a few when i thought that was unheard of)... we are high up and don't stand a chance either way. I find it strange BASIS hasn't moved in months (no joke).... we are high up so doesn't matter either way either too.....thoughts?
