Yeah…no. Not going to make the effort for an anonymous forum. |
| Yet you have time to comment. |
You’re kidding, right? DCUM is chock full of unsubstantiated nonsense. Why should anyone post anything just because you want them to? |
| It’s weird they sent it to Latin l but not ll families…but anyhow, would the two Latins be all together according to this plan? |
| So it’s basically in the same neighborhood as current Latin and still not near a metro train. So it will be accessible to exactly the same kids from Brookland/Ft Totten, kids who happen to live along those bus lines, and Hill parents who can pay for a shuttle. Lame. |
Here you go. It’s very wordy — like 100 percent of all emails from Peter Anderson. I hope you are all enjoying the summer as much as we are. It has been an exciting few days for our team, as we watch the Anna Julia Cooper campus come to life with students traveling the halls, working in classrooms, and getting to know our faculty and each other during summer orientation. Meanwhile, our Second Street students finished summer school in the last week of July, and we are now in a brief respite before back to school activities start up later this month. As quiet as that building is, there is work in progress behind the scenes to prepare for the 2022-23 school year and Day 1 on Thursday, August 25. I have important news to share with our community: we have identified a very promising option for the permanent location of our Cooper Campus and are exploring a joint purchase of the property with another charter school, Washington Yu Ying. The site is located at 4301 Harewood Road NE in Ward 5, previously the home of the Kirov Academy of Ballet, near both the Edgewood and 2nd Street locations. There is a beautiful school building and room for additional construction. Our bid was chosen by the seller to move forward, which launched a 60-day due diligence process to study the site and explore the feasibility of the project from all angles. The due diligence period will end later this month. Latin and Yu Ying are discussing sharing the costs of the purchase and renovation of shared spaces, and then occupying the campus together with a combination of separate classroom spaces for each school and some shared facilities, such as offices, parking, etc. Please note that the notion of a partnership between our organizations is in the very early stages of discussion and, like the purchase itself, has not been finalized. We hope that our families, especially those at Cooper, will share our excitement about the possibility of a permanent home for the second campus. We also imagine you may have questions about the process and next steps, the nature of our Yu Ying partnership, and the impact of this project on Washington Latin as a whole. We will host an open Q&A session for families later this month (details will be shared very soon). In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying summer. We all look forward to seeing you and our students very soon.

Hmmmm, how does the work with sharing a space with YuYing? Is YuYing expanding or moving here permanently?
What about outside/green space? |
This article is 🍌🍌🍌 I had no idea! Thanks for posting. |
I'm super super curious why CUA didn't want it. Does the building have problems? |
|
Seems like Kirov was in a downward slide for a while, then COVID pushed them over the edge.
So how many students would Latin Cooper have at this location? |
This. I call BS. WTF would Latin tell only the kids at the campus that won't be impacted. OP, you are my hero. Troll of the Year Award should be handed out right now. No one is going to top this effort. |
Cooper parent here. Received the email. |
Really? When? I must have missed it |
| im impressed with how the latin emails also go out in spanish |
