She fled the scene, AFTER her passenger was mowed down.

She left the scene of 6 hostile drunk men … sounds like a good decision.

After one of them was mowed down. She’s toast. But for her actions, he’d be alive.

You keep using this term, and I don't think you know what it means.

What do you think that mowed down means? One of the passengers was hit by another car at highway speed right after exiting the Lyft.

Being hit by another car as an accident, is NOT the same as "mowed down." I mean, are you actually serious in making a comparison?

Mowed down is an intentional act of trying and succeeding to hit somebody with a car and literally run over them.

That did not happen,

A drunk caused a violent situation in a car, the car stopped, a drunk stupidly tried to exit the wrong side of a car and a car hit him.

These dudes really need to analyze their drinking habits.

Why would 6 grown men hire only one car share??

You assume incorrectly. The Lyft driver had a kid with her who wasn’t properly restrained and the passengers were all dads who were giving her crap about it.

And they were sober at 1:45 am leaving dewey. Yeah right. Hope she’s found and charged with murder.

All she had to say was she was protecting her baby from five, or is it six, drunk angry men at 2AM and she’ll get off.

It was reckless for her AND HER UNRESTRAINED BABY to stop in the middle of the highway in the left lane.

But it’s cool to put 6 guys in a Lyft, start a fight with your driver and jump out of the car in the middle of the road.

How do you fit six passengers and a baby into a single car? Was it a Suburban or something?

It was a Honda pilot

But if you look at the picture there was plenty of room on the left of the car to exit safely.

Please share the picture that shows that it was perfectly safe for six passengers to exit safely from a car that was stopped dead in the passing lane of a four-lane divided state highway. TIA!

There is clearly safe space to the left.

They were wasted.

My thoughts:

1- Rarely does someone leave a bar in Dewey sober. Also, its not a short hop from Bethany to Dewey. They went to Dewey to party. Like we all do, nothing wrong w that. But lets not pretend these dudes werent drunk enough to be wayyy obnoxious resulting in a car share driver letting them out.

2- Anchor way is near the end of town, but it is still in Dewey. When I first read about this, I assumed that this happened in the no-mans land btw Dewey and Bethany, but it didnt. The intersection of 1 and Anchor Way still has sidewalks, a median, and side streets where the driver could have pulled over.

3- They had barely been in the car for 5 mins (tops) when the driver let them out, based on the location relative to the bars. Im so interested to hear what happened in such a short period of time to result in the driver stopping where they did. Anchor way is just like 2-3 streets before the stretch of nothingness btw the two towns. Were they being sketchy enough that the driver feared for their safety and wanted to let them out before they left town?

You mean but for his actions. She didn’t open the door. It’s 100% on him

We’ll see. Innocent people don’t flee the scene, or fail to call police. She also had an unrestrained child in the front seat, and stopped illegally in the middle of a roadway. It will be interesting for sure.

This is based on someone randomly posting some screenshots of a a facebook profile to a random comments section on FB. This has NO basis in reality, unless you can post and confirm otherwise.

The unrestrained child is rumor. The stopping illegally in the middle of a roadway is FACT. You cannot legally just stop in the middle of an active roadway, and you certainly can't legally exit passengers this way. She should have found somewhere safe to pull over. Being drunk (and not driving) is not illegal.

I too assumed that this happened in the desolate stretch between Dewey and Bethany, not at the south end of town. Huge bike lane to the right (almost the size of a whole travel lane) where the driver could have pulled over and let everyone out safely. I’m at a total loss for all of the people on this thread defending the driver. Regardless what transpired, the driver came to a dead stop in the left lane (dangerous) made the passengers exit into traffic or a highway median (dangerous) and now a person is dead as a result of their negligence.

After one was dead and lying in the road at that

Maybe the passengers were yelling at her to stop and let them put. How do we know she forced them out?

I assumed this was the stretch of road with a 50 mph speed limit but anchor way is still in town/residential and the speed limit might have been 25. We’re short on facts but a group of men this age piling into a car in Dewey and one stepping out into a lane of traffic makes me think alcohol and poor behavior by these men was likely a factor.
