Granted, I'm assuming the man was rather drunk. If so, could he have been responsible for his own error? The deceased man should have taken greater care before exiting the vehicle. Your accountability over your body still matters, even if you're drunk. Yes, the driver could have stopped in a better place. But perhaps things were getting really out of hand and dangerous at that moment for the driver. I'm not so quick to pass judgment on the driver - I'm sure there are some really awful, awful passengers. It's not like the Lyft driver pushed him into the other car. I do feel very badly for the other driver though - I agree this must be extremely, awfully traumatizing for them. |
Are you freakin' kidding me? This story just confirms that there are many, many clueless drivers out there -- and too many of them are Lyft drivers. You do NO stop in the left-bound lane of a highway. You do not, obviously, make passengers get out in the left-bound lane of a highway. I don't care what's happening in the car. That's not safe for anybody. |
| This story just makes me more dedicated to canceling rides with any Uber driver who has a rating anywhere below 4.95. Too many really really bad drivers out there. |
It is a state highway. https://dsp.delaware.gov/2022/07/24/delaware-state-police-investigating-fatal-pedestrian-crash-2/ |
And they were sober at 1:45 am leaving dewey. Yeah right. Hope she’s found and charged with murder. |
| The guy worked for Cuomo. I will reserve judgment as to what kind of behavior he & his buds were showing at 1:44 am on a Sunday morning. |
Yeah, good luck with that, with people (like you?) giving 1-star ratings to drivers who commit egregious violations like not agreeing with them when they insist on bringing up politics in small-talk during the ride. |

So the Lyft didn't even pull over? There is a sidewalk and a shoulder on this road. Why did the Lyft have 6 passengers plus the driver? Was it a really large car?
"a 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 27-year-old man, was approaching the stopped Lyft car. The man changed lanes to avoid hitting the back of the Lyft, but police said Wolf had already gotten out of the rear right passenger seat, and was standing in the roadway. " |
All she had to say was she was protecting her baby from five, or is it six, drunk angry men at 2AM and she’ll get off. |
Every single drive I've had with a rating under around 4.92 has a clear and obvious reason why: Seat reclined so they're laying down while driving almost; car stinks like weed or cigarettes; literally does not seem to know how to drive; speeds/drives dangerously; refuses to actually pick up at the address requested (wants us to walk across a busy street). No way I'm going on 395 with my kid with a driver rated anything below 4.95. |
It was reckless for her AND HER UNRESTRAINED BABY to stop in the middle of the highway in the left lane. |
+1 And the driver knew they were in the wrong because they fled the scene. |
Eoukd it have been better for them to be driving drunk? They were doing the responsible thing. |
Yes but the law can be on her side regardless of what is morally right. Drunk people are still jerks and can be violent. She should have pulled over....but he shouldn't have gotten out of the car without looking. It's not her job to judge what the drunk person is capable of doing. |
I'm puzzled as to why the men didn't all exit the car side adjacent to the shoulder. Can't imagine alcohol wasn't a factor. |
