| Can someone just confirm- to the best of your knowledge they won’t redistrict Whitman to go to Woodward? |
Nobody can guarantee anything - and anyone who tells you differently is lying. It is true that as of now, it is likely that the boundaries for Whitman wouldn't be changed - but no one can guarantee anything about school boundaries. |
| Why are you so worried about this? If you know there is inequity between schools, then you should be advocating to fix that. Instead, you only care about your kid getting what you think you deserve because you bought an overpriced house in a certain school district. Or you are classist, racist, etc |
well sure - it's a construction site. |
Unless Wolff and the other board members are voted out, I'm fairly certain they'll carry out what they said they were going to do. Pretty sure that increasing diversity across MCPS schools was their number one goal. I can't wait to see what happens when the parents at Whitman find out their DC will be part of diversification! That will be exciting! |
I hear that they're going to swap 1000 kids between the DCC and Whitman. |
LOL Wow are you stupid. They pay you to post that? They aren't building new ones. |
Why wouldn't they? |
Also, some W moms were trying to set up a PG county exchange program to help diversify the W's. They were posting about it a few months back. |
This is total fiction. They showed various options in a study they paid for and there was no more busing than there is now. |
I hear they are going to send all Whitman kids to Paint Branch HS so they can have an “adversity” to put on their college applications. |
Why can’t you sell your house? This makes no sense. |
+1. It's zoned for whichever school it's zoned for currently. End of story. |
Correct. MCPS has consistently stated for years now that it is reopening Woodward "to address the urgent space needs at the Downcounty Consortium high schools and Walter Johnson High School." Whereas Whitman just had an addition completed and is now under capacity, and is projected to remain so. |
Yes, but that doesn't mean that they're just going to bus kids across the DCC to Woodward. It means kids from adjacent boundaries will be rezoned for Woodward and as space propagates through adjacent zones it will make room at other DCC schools. As much as greater diversity would be beneficial especially with the W's, diverting more funds away from education into transportation seems counterproductive. |
