| Who will be going to this school? Are the parents and students that will go there happy with the cell tower that is going to be put on the baseball field and the clear cutting of all the trees on the property? |
| They have not announced it yet. |
| It'll be 3 years or so until we know who'll be attending Woodward. |
| Since no one knows which students will attend Woodward, the only unhappy people are the neighbors. Boy have they put up a fuss, but tens of thousands of future students outweigh the NIMBYs. You moved in next to a school. The school is expanding, back to its original use, a high school. Yes, a larger high school, but that is the way MCPS builds them now. Don't like it, move. |
Students from adjacent schools like Walter Johnson, Einstein, and BCC. |
Nothing in the news about neighbors. They seem fine with it. |
You keep posting this misinformation. It's been clearly stated for years now that Woodward is being reopened to relieve overcrowding at WJ and the DCC high schools. |
The main problem Woodward solves is the serious overcrowding at WJ and Einstein. The sooner this is done the better. |
Judging by their comments at the community updates the past couple years, they are absolutely not fine with it. However, the option which MCPS ultimately selected and is proceeding with is one that removes fewer trees than several others that were under consideration. |
The trees are all gone. They were clear cut weeks ago. |
There were other options that would have removed even more of them on the Edson side. |
Neighbors are fine with new school - not so happy about cutting down the trees surrounding the school and the rumor of a new cell tower or night lights for a stadium that will light up the neighborhood, but fine with the school and its size. |
High schools do come with stadium lights. And just think of the fab mobile service you'll have! |

The original plan was for Northwest HS students to use the building while their own school is renovated, and then Woodward will finally open for its local students.
We might be in bounds, we might not, but by the time it actually opens, our last child might be grandfathered into another high school anyway. |
MCPS removed all the trees. They are gone. Everyone should be happy with MCPS destroying the tree canopy in Montgomery County. Climate change is a hoax. |
