I’m afraid the new Rockville store is going to be like that. |

This is the OP and I did my weekly shop at the new location today.
It was very busy so hoping that will calm down. Overall still happy to have one a 7 minute drive from me vs the 40 minutes to Germantown. That said a few misses: Not enough seating in the cafe area. Also missing the sub shop (though this one has the burger counter but I miss my subs). Since they can sell alcohol, a lot of floor space is dedicated to it. That’s frustrating because they are missing some products. When I asked customer service how to recommend a few of my staples they have in Germantown but not at the DC location the staff member shrugged and said they don’t have as many products due to space. There’s also no self-serve olive bar which is disappointing But, I got most of what I wanted and parking was easy, so I call it a win. |
What did you buy? What was missing that Germantown has? |
you want olives that people have sneezed and coughed on? |
|
Some of the complaints here are unbelievable.
I checked it out yesterday. The store is gargantuan. I don’t understand why people are griping that suburban locations are bigger. Why would you need it to be bigger. It already seemed miles long to me. Cafe seating seemed fine. Do you really sit and eat at Wegmans? Missing some products - whatever! Find some new favorites. There is more than enough choice |
| Went today and hated it. I love wegmans and was looking forward to this for a long time. I hate that they filled the entire center of the store with beer, wine and liquor and eliminated the pharmacy, and personal care stuff (makeup, shampoo and other drug store stuff) and that they don’t have any of the home goods at all. I’m sure we’ll shop there occasionally but it won’t be regularly. |

Went today and did not hate it 😂
I LOVED it. The prices seem high though. But no way am I trekking all the way to Germantown. |
I heard on the news they have a "Hoagie bar." We were going to go just for that. They don't have it? |
Homegoods wtf? What homegoods are you regularly buying? And there are so many pharmacies around. I get why they would eliminate that |
|
I think some Wegmans fans have one vision in mind - what they are used to at the Wegmans they usually go to.
And they get upset if something is different. Obviously folks who are somewhat new to Wegmans won’t care |

I love Wegmans.
During the Pandemic they went over and above to protect their customers, and they did it with courtesy and minimal disruptions. Employees were constantly wiping down freezer door handles and the like. It's things like this that I appreciate and remember. Some prices are higher than other grocery store chains but other prices are competitive. |
No this one doesn’t have the made to order subs. Disappointing |
Yes! Their prepared food is amazing. As a grad student I would camp out at the Wegmans near my school and study there. Wegmans is so much more than a grocery store…. |
Prices were fairly consistent with what I’m used to paying in Germantown |
I bought my usuals, mostly meat, produce, fish and deli meat. They didn’t have a specific type of sausage my kid eats regularly and pesto from the olive bar. Their personal care aisle was also much smaller (though I can go to target so not so worried about that one). The other thing they were missing I realized is the car carts! The DC location is definitely not as kid friendly as the Germantown one. She’s going to miss the car carts and the dedicated kid eating space playing Disney Jr on the tv…. |
