Come on folks, give the locals a chance here. Tenley/AU Park residents have been waiting for a grocery store for ages (will always have a special place in my heart for Rodman’s)
Look forward to walking there- may even get one of those Nanna carts! |
Rodman’s is wonderful! But why have you been “waiting for ages”? Are there problems with the Tenley Whole Foods? |
|
2 local grocery stores were closed in recent years; Tenley WF is super crowded and the WF shoppers are pretty ruthless in their hunting and gathering. So was especially tough shopping when trying to distance during Covid.
Wagshal’s was a life saver many a time. Otherwise lots of driving required to get meal provisions |
Technically I can walk from my house in Chevy Chase MD if I wanted to. This will be the closest to my house so I consider it my neighborhood Wegmans. Sorry if you feel like I’m not “giving local folks a chance” but just because you live in Tenley doesn’t mean only you can shop there. Oh and Wegmans is definitely sending flyers to folks in Bethesda so they’re fully expecting us to shop there. |
I really hope you’re joking. This is the 13th grocery store to open in ward 3, or 13 times as many that exist EOTR |
It's ridiculous that the SuperFresh has been closed for YEARS. |
| I'm part of the Whole Foods diaspora -- used to love shopping there, but that was before Amazon gutted it. So, I'm excited to check out Wegman's. For those of you who are Wegman's afficionados -- what do you get there? |
Groceries. |
So funny! Seriously, what's good there compared to say WF or TJ's? One PP above said she drives from Bethesda to Germantown to shop at Wegman's. What makes the worthwhile? |
Seriously. AU Park residents can walk to two WF stores, plus Wagshal's and the Amazon store in Friendship Heights. |
All of which are small/have limited selection compared to Wegmans. |
NP. I like their produce, fruit, freshly squeezed citrus juices, frozen shrimp and salmon, breads, cheese counter, olive bar, fresh pasta, frozen pizza, sushi and some of the European items. Their fresh flowers are great. I always get the huge bunch of roses. My dogs love the Dogsters frozen treats in mint flavor, which I haven’t found elsewhere. I stay away from their prepared foods and convenience food products as that can jack up the bill. |
I’m the OP who drives (drove?) Bethesda to Germantown for Wegmans. I got spoiled by Wegmans in my grad school town and the overall experience can’t be matched. I don’t know but it always feels much warmer in a Wegmans (less sterile lighting maybe?) and it feels cleaner than a regular store. And I can find everything I’m looking for from specialty to generic “family pack” trash bags. I refuse to go to another store unless I absolutely have to. Wegmans quality is unmatched. I just shopped my last (?) time at Germantown. Can’t wait to shop the new location next week! |
