| Too bad they didn't arrest all of the treasonous rioters immediately on January 6th. Lots of them did get away and have suffered no consequences. |

Republicans are so tedious. Guys, as I promised several pages ago, it was nothing. They had all the permission. Don’t you get sick of being wrong and poorly informed?
“Thursday evening, the group was doing some “last-minute puppetry” in a hallway, Colbert said, when they were approached and detained by Capitol Police. (This echoed the statement that CBS released Friday when the news became public. The Washington Post reported that police said the building was closed to visitors at the time and that the group earlier had been directed to leave.) “The Capitol Police are much more cautious than they were, say, 18 months ago — and for a very good reason,” Colbert said. “If you don’t know what that reason is, I know what news network you watch.” “Until the next night,” Colbert continued. “When a couple of the TV people started claiming that my puppet squad had ‘committed insurrection’ at the U.S. Capitol building.” Colbert did not name names, but that quote came from Fox News’s Tucker Carlson. “First of all, what? Second of all, huh? Third of all, they weren’t in the Capitol building,” Colbert said. “Fourth of all — and I’m shocked I have to explain the difference — but an insurrection involves disrupting the lawful actions of Congress and howling for the blood of elected leaders, all to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.” “This was first-degree puppetry,” he added. “This was high jinks with intent to goof. Misappropriation of an old ‘Conan’ bit. It’s really Conan’s fault.”https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2022/06/21/colbert-explains-staffers-arrested-capitol-hill/ Given the speed with which this was pulled up into the right wing dumb-o-sphere, I still suspect that the right wing elements in the Capitol Police were being political. But no one among the puppeteers was insurrectioning. No one was threatening anyone’s lives. |

If Colbert's ratings weren't high enough, I think everyone is going to be watching the insurrection puppet dog bit when it's ready. I think Colbert may even have gotten some very funny extra material out of this.
Thanks Tucker! |
Considering they keep voting for Republicans, I'm guessing the answer to that question is a resounding "no." |
Which would make it the first time there would be funny material on his show Vax-scene?

To be clear, the Capitol Police never arrested anyone for January 6, 2021. Other agencies have stepped in to do the job. Leadership at the USCP is a joke. They released that statement that Loudermilk was giving an innocuous tour the night before the attack. Loudermilk sits on the committee that hires and fires USCP “leaders.” I bet this case gets nolle prossed. |
Hilarious that you are posting an "explanation" from the person who employs these lawbreakers. No, they did not have permission. They were told to leave. And, they didn't. A Dem congressman's staff member actually let them into the building. Illegally. And, how do we know they weren't threatening? Have you seen the video footage of what they were doing? |

Entered a closed federal building at night to snoop around? How is that not in camera? Why disclosed 6 months AFTER it happened? Terrible security at schools and Club Fed. Or corrupt. Or defunded. Or berated. Take your picks. |

Mean 18 mos.
What a mass media coverup again. |
Duh |
Wait, they broke in after hours AND recorded anything and everything they could find in offices, hallways, garbage cans, conference rooms? Gross. What a violation. |
You bet, White Lotus style. |
Why would Colbert make a mockery of the j6 hearings? Why is he helping to prove Trump right? |
