Say what now? The "crony deal" was the mayor's and was supported - by both words and actions - by the FCCA (who support Frumin and Goulet). Cheh strongly opposed it at every stage and, after it was announced, requested that the DC AG review its legality. Duncan was active in the "Keep Old Hardy Public" campaign that advocated for Old Hardy to be given back to DCPS.

Cheh was lobbied by one of her closest advisors to get the deal in the first place. Do you even know what you are saying?

Cheh was for it before she was against it.

I’m sure plenty of people lobbied her on the issue. So what? She opposed it and tried to stop it.

They were specifically asked that question in one of the debates. As I recall, only Tricia and Henry said they would reopen the deal. Goulet, Thomas and Frumin all said it was water under the bridge. Which is a way of supporting the deal without supporting it publicly.

Seems like the Palisades NIMBYs are very scared of a Duncan victory due to her unwavering support for building a new school at Hardy Park. Goulet and Frumin have both cratered to pandering to this group during their events and social media posts. I don’t know if what Frumin has told NIMBYs about his apprehension for the new schools is what he actually believes or is just a play to get elected, but Tricia is by far the most pro-building (of both schools and housing) of the leading three candidates in this race. Ward 3 has serious issues with our overcrowding, and she is the only of the three candidates who has refused to yield on the issue of new schools.

He seems to be pretty clear about his views here. Did you even go to his website?

The question wasn't what his views are, the question was whether they are sincere or a ploy to get elected.

It wasn’t a question. It was an insinuation.

This. Is. Amazing.

"With funding secured, the next challenge came from residents of Foxhall Village on October 7th who decided that the location of the school should be moved back to Reservoir Road, expressing concern that the school’s playground would “attract an undesirable class of children which live[d] near the village but not in it,” resulting in a feared depreciation of real estate values. The Foxhall Village Citizens’ Association supported the residents and went on record October 12th urging that the location of the school be changed."

“Foxhall Village School Opposed.” The Evening Star, October 7, 1932, p. A11.

THESE PEOPLE WANT TO ELECT JIM CROW.

I remember going to a FCCA meeting about five years ago where the president spoke passionately about what a catastrophe for the neighborhood a public school would be. The two principal arguments were that it would attract students from other parts of the city, and that, unlike a private school it wouldn't be subject to a zoning variance so the FCCA wouldn't be able to dictate terms. That's what drove their support of the Old Hardy lease and historic designation.

I was curious to see who Zach Teutsch was. Read his Twitter bio and I'm not curious any more.

A Ward 4 self-described “socialist financial advisor” telling people who live in Ward 3 how to vote. Hard pass.

With friends like this, I would hate to see Frumin’s enemies.

Mary’s endorsement seems to have sent the NIMBYs into a panic. I’m seeing their “Save Hardy Park. No to Tricia Duncan” up on NE Ave and the partner of the FCCA President is sending ridiculous three-page accounts detailing her interactions with Tricia to all of the local listserves. They sure know how to get someone elected!

My new nickname for Tricia is "The Bulldozer."

Really more of an earthmover than a bulldozer but that's not as poetic.

It’s a loader, is it not? Not a backhoe, thankfully.
