I was hoping to find a unique name for my baby and I'm so happy that neither my first nor my second choice have been posted yet!

Somehow Trenton & Camden just don't have that romantic ring, do they? lol I met a Houston once and he said he got asked: Were you born in Houston? 100 times a day. So we decided to avoid place names for that reason.

Meanings of names I think are really important. I'm South Asian - so we look at the original root and meaning of a name.

Kind of have been missing those kinds of names on this thread from people of other ethnic/religious backgrounds...

I have a friend who named her child after the place where she was conceived. It is unusual, so I won't say what it is, but it is a pretty-sounding name. BUT... it REALLY grosses me out! Every time I see her child or when she mentions her child by name, I can't help but think about her having sex with her husband. And, believe me, that is NOT a sight I want to have scarred in my mind!

My only suggestion is that if you are going to name a child after the place where he/she was conceived, please don't tell everyone! Just say that you liked the name!

I'm so glad folks like different names...names I'd never select - how boring (and confusing) it would be if all parents had the same taste in names.
Girl: Jane, Katherine
Boy: Matthew

21:56, I like Trenton and Camden. I know one of each. I also like Paris if it wasn't associated with Paris Hilton.

You do? Well, I like the way they sound but they do conjure up images of Jersey for me. I was born there, so don't flame me. I just don't want a constant reminder of the state.

I had a hot professor in college named Talbot (like the county) -- Tal for short.

Know a kid named Tilghman (conceived on Tilghman's Island on MD eastern shore).

I've always liked Catalina.

So many of these names are way too "trendy" for me.

What's wrong with Billy, Sam, Joe, Mike, David, Tom, Susan, Betsy, Kathy, Ann, Karen, etc. etc.

When I was probably in third grade, I received my first Cabbage Patch doll. I immediately named her "Emma". To this day Emma is still my favorite. My second Cabbage Patch was "AVA". My second choice of names. They just stuck with me for all these years.

Thank you. You gave me justification to use those names. Love it. Camden Yards, huh? Even my DP would go for that.
