Help me get over wanting Botox

I think you’d be better off spending the money on therapy to work out why you are so mean to yourself.

Beyond the not insignificant risks of injecting botulinum toxin into your body intentionally, there is the certainty that your face will appear unnatural at best and freakish at worst because humans are meant to have wrinkles from expressing their emotions and older humans are meant to have more as a sign of a life LIVED rather than looking like a porcelain doll on a shelf.

Get the therapy and learn radical acceptance of yourself - you are beautiful just as you are!

I already have a RBF and the 11's aren't helping. I look angry all the time - and honestly, I am, but I think if I could could look more approachable and make friends, it would help (I'm mostly just isolated and lonely). Because radical acceptance of self is stupid when everyone except your husband hates you.

I know so many people that start of just doing a little bit and then get addicted and get fillers etc. Some people are scary looking! I would focus on losing some weight, eating healthily, getting regular exercise and treating yourself to some new clothes/haircut and you will feel better about yourself. Botox is only a temporary quick fix, a change in lifestyle can be beneficial.

The change in lifestyle I need is not possible for another decade or so (DH's career). Losing weight won't fix things.

It depends on how deep your 11s are I think. Mine were pretty bad (mid40s when I started Botox). I was told if you only did the 11s I’d have some droopy brows. So I had some light wrinkles in the forehead done. So I think it depends.
I will say it’s a bit like if you’re give a mouse a cookie. I went in because my 11s made me look angry. Once those were fixed up then the forehead wrinkles bothered me a little. Got those done and suddenly those lines around my eyes had to be taken care of too. LOL

Got it, love it.

Honestly, I am not unattractive but was having a bad day when I first posted (fat, yes). Just had my 11's done, and I FEEL happier and prettier.

I’m glad it worked for you.

But if I’m attributing the correct posts to you, and if 20 years of therapy hasn’t helped, LSD or shrooms and (separately) volunteering might be the way to go in future. And microdosing either of those drugs will be cheaper than Botox (unless it kills your clearance, in which case, stick with the Botox).

No clearance, but I have other federal reasons I can't microdose. Maybe after retirement!

I found out post-appointment that Botox can be associated with lower depression (biofeedback-related, breaks the frowning cycles), so maybe not seeing an angry person in the mirror all the time will help.
