It is NOT damaging nerves. It temporarily paralyzes the muscles under the skin. |
Reputable providers requires to return at two weeks for your first time, and they often have to even things out (1-2 units usually does it). if your provider didn't ask you to come back in two weeks after your first time, that's a bad sign. |

I'm super low key about clothes, wear very little make up and can't remember the last time I had a mani or pedi. But I get botox 3-4 times a year on my forehead and 11's and it's a worthwhile investment to me. Post-kids, it helps me to not look so damn tired all the time. It all depends on what your priorities are. It will not fix anything permanently but if you are particularly bothered by your forehead or eye wrinkles, it's a pretty straightforward option for addressing those. You could be strategic and get it 3 weeks before a big event or occasion.
Go to a reputable provider (a doctor's office like a plastic surgeon, dermatologist or a primary care office that has a doctor or NP with training in cosmetic services) and be conservative (eg. get the smallest amount the provider thinks you need and build from there when you see what it does). And go for a touch-up at 2 weeks if it's uneven. I get about 20 units at $14/unit. Take care and good luck! |
| You should get it although I warn you once you do youll never accept going without |
| I get it done regularly but it is expensive, at least in my experience. I paid $700 last week. |
OP here. It seems fairly low risk, as aesthetics go. |
Ouch. I was thinking it would be more like $400. - op |
Zero people do Botox just once, unless they really didn’t like it. Botox is a commitment and people go in knowing they’ll have to do it long term. |
I go to a med spa and have never paid more than $400 (forehead only). |
It might be for you! Depends on the person. I have DEEP 11’s and a very expressive forehead so I use a lot. You can always tell your aesthetician your budget and then once she views your face can tell you where she’d like to inject to maximize the effect of the amount of toxin you have budgeted for. |
Don't do this OP- life is short, don't things off. You can work on your weight for free starting now. Botox has nothing to do with your weight. I've done it for years and it's worth every penny to me. Start small, what bothers you most? Crow's feet, 11's, forehead? You don't need to do everything. And around my eyes I don't need much at all. For me 11's I need more units- your face is unique and we all age differently. I'm not shy about asking questions just say you want to come in for a consult about Botox it will be free or a fee applied to treatment if you get something done. I've have spent anywhere from $150 to $500 depending on what I'm getting done. $500 was everything. $150 was last week- I am going through a dental issue and I have a huge smile. I had the nurse inject so your smile shows less gum and isn't quite as wide. That was just a few units , and I had my eyebrows lifted a tiny bit. I go to the same person I've seen for years & I'm super honest with her and will say if I want to spend x amount and she'll suggest the best areas to maximize the effect. Go. I don't know anyone who regrets it. |
It's not a commitment. It lasts for 3-4 months and then you'll start noticing wrinkles will start coming back. You'll look like you did pre botox. Personally I went without throughout Covid- I prefer how I look with it but stopping isn't a problem. Everything we do for looks as and health is temporary. Skincare has to be used consistently. You're hair will need to be cut again, your body will change if you quit exercising. Same thing here |
It’s going to depend on who is doing the injections (I go to a cosmetic dermatologist not a med spa) and how much you get. And of course, it only lasts about three months, so consider the expense of maintaining the look (unless you are going in for a special event or high school reunion or something and literally only planning on doing Botox once). |
OP here. How is it a commitment? Sure, I hate the way my roots get dull (not really gray), but I sometimes stretch appointments if I'm traveling. |
This is help. I'm also not sure what the effort on Botox has to do with weight loss. |
