NP. Thank you for this! |
| Oh my gosh I’ve felt this way about so many things- calling a fancy place to get a haircut, calling for a facial, etc. I always feel like I shouldn’t but once I go it’s fine and literally no one cares. |
| I’m a normal woman and I’m a speech pathologist (so need my face to show expression). I’m 45 and hated the way the furrow between my eyebrows looked as I suddenly began staring at myself all day everyday on Zoom. I get 20 units between my 11s and horizontal forehead lines. I can still raise my eyebrows but don’t look so haggard. Other than this, I wear a little tinted sunscreen, chapstick and mascara and am good to go. |
| Has anyone had any nerve damage or other ill effects? |

I can't believe you all are encouraging OP who "doesn't knows if she can afford it."
OP this is a luxury, and it won't make you feel any better about yourself and won't make you more attractive (if that is your goal). If you can't afford it, don't do it. |
It's temporary so no nerve damage, but literally thus is what it does. It blocks nerve signaling... |
I would spend the effort on weight loss first. You will feel better on the inside and look better on the outside. I am like you and surprised by how much better I feel (happier and more energetic) since losing 10 lbs in the last 3 months. |
| Just go online and look at all the plastic surgery gone wrong people. Look at Madonna and Ashley Judd. Even Angelina Jolie. Plastic faces. Don't go down the rabbit hole! |
|
I think Botox looks more effective the more fat someone has in their face. It just looks more natural. On very thin women, especially with pronounced bone structure, I feel like I can always tell where they have it and that it impacts their expression much more.
Though if you can’t afford it, don’t do it because it’s temporary and if you do it once and love it, you’ll be frustrated that you can’t to it again, or as frequently. And then you’ll feel worse about your appearance than you already do. It’s a vicious cycle and not worth getting into if you can’t easily afford as much as you want. |
+1 |
But if you are fat and unattractive anyhow, botox won’t move the needle |
| good gosh its so mainstream men are getting botox! just go get it |
Getting botox one time won't turn you into Madonna or Ashley Judd. Botox is temporary - it lasts only about 12 weeks, and especially the first time you get it. If OP get it and she doesn't like it, she can just choose not to get it again, and it will fade. |

I tried it for the first time this month. So far, I don't like it. The effects are a bit uneven, so I can still raise my right brow but not my left. My left eye looks a little...mean? I don't know how to describe it, I just feel like my eyes are not as lively or as balanced as they were before.
It has done a great job of smoothing out the 11s, though. |
| I got it in November for the first time, just a little bit to start. It made my eyelids and eyebrows so heavy and itchy. By the time that wore off, I barely noticed a difference. By February I already had wrinkles again. |
