Why don’t more parents send their kids to Basis McLean?

We were told to get investment to expand to open the other half of the building they would need to reach 1,000. It seems that even with increased enrollment they are still not close to that number. With COVID ramping down and the lawsuit to revert the TJ admissions policy the school has to really deliver now or faces a real risk of exodus in the next year or two.

I heard that the enrollment for high school remains the same because those who rejected by TJ would still choose bigger schools: Langley, McLean, all are good high schools. But the lower to middle school enrollment increases a lot. 640 to 1000, still a long way to go.

I have never heard of the school but the satellite photos-wow. I guess the owners don't care about air quality. And frankly, its just tacky.

What is the accept/reject rate? Never once heard this mentioned as a member of the community. The new HoS is under pressure for one mission - increase enrollment.

I don't know. I was replying to that post.
From my own experiences applying for my lower school kids, the accept rate should be high. They don't have deadlines. I recommended several friends, their kids all get accepted.

Their only criteria are who can keep up academically. They need all the paying parents they can get to grow.

Yes

Do they have a playground for the younger kids or is it just a field? Is it real grass or turf?

Lol
Does not look like a old office building.
Several stories high hall with skylight.
Each classroom has natural sunlight pass through windows.
Tour it by yourself.

You keep saying the same thing over and over and over again.

Is it true that grades 4+ don't have recess? According to this schedule, there's no recess after 3rd grade?

We’ve played soccer games nearby. The building and fields seemed fine. It’s by tower club area so lots of roads within 5-10 minutes.
Not like wisconsin Ave doesn’t have solid cars idling or driving 1 min from sidwell or gds or cathedral schools.

I am almost certain they have a playground. We did a drive by when we were considering basis in the height of Covid.

That course schedule is ridic. Mandarin for a couple years then Latin for a couple years then Foreign Language? Seems designed to not actually have the kids learn any language. Just dabble.

There's a difference between being located on Wisconsin Ave and being located on the Dulles Toll Road. Being located within a stones' throw of a major highway? That will worsen asthma in children. There are studies that show this.
