Why don’t more parents send their kids to Basis McLean?

In Metaverse, who cares about name engraved in a stone

If you believe SAT/ACT still matters for admission and merit aid (in contrast to what universities say) then you should consider Basis. Ultimately the experience will depend on the the child being a "good" fit or not. You got to know your child and be realistic about how she/he fits the well known pros and cons of Basis. Some criticism towards Basis come from disgruntled parents whose kids turned out not be good fits (this has nothing to do with being smart), but it is also true that the school has some lacking dimensions (diversity, social life, sports) that could be particularly hard for some to cope (again, not good fits).

There is already a SAT, why everyone still takes PSAT?

Reviving a dead thread just to be obtuse and weird?

Does anyone have any recent experience on their Preschool 2 or 3 class?

Apparently, BIM was named the number one private school in the DMV by Niche, above Sidwell, GDS, NCS, and STA.

Use the search function if this thread doesn’t already contain enough info about BIM.

Press a button and the marketing robot spits out the memorized spin.

What turned me off was that the graduating class was tiny, like 30 kids. It made me think that more people didn’t want to send their kids there.

How is the culture? College admissions?
Do they even have enough kids for sport teams?

Never heard of it not on our radar.

Like I said before, most of Basis parents are busy upper middle class professionals who don't have time to write a review. And if they are happy with the school, they don't need a vent to say anything.
A single one unhappy parent may keep writing bad reviews.
This school not suit for everyone for sure.

If not seeing so many posts with bias, I would not write anything here either.

Don't have time to write a review? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

It doesn’t have the reputation or caliber that parents spending $50k want. No one going to Sidwell or Cathedral, GDS or Maret would choose or even apply most likely. It’s not in the same realm. That’s the answer to your question op. I have ne we heard of it or know anyone that had applied there or considered it.

This. BIM is a for profit school that paid their way to the top niche post. I’d feather homeschool my kid then send them for free to BIM

They’d probably apply if they live in McLean. I see a lot of BIM families in McLean. It looks like the BIM kids are being prepared to tackle college level work and that is the most important thing. Everything else is secondary.

It's a difficult school for really smart kids. Ppl who hate it know that there's a difference between their 120 IQ gifted kid (real gifted is 130+) and many of the kids at Basis are 140+ so really gifted. Lots of duel professional couples. Everybody is expected to succeed. No strivers.

Sad if you believe this.
