Help them with childcare etc.

When your own kid is doing something wrong, counsel them.

Include their relations - mom, dad etc - in celebrations.

Help them go on date nights.

Help in getting their domestic chores done. ie - pay for a house cleaner or a lawn maintainence guy after taking the input from them.

Don't gossip about them.

Have your own life.

What? Help them get their domestic chores done? Help with childCare? Counsel them? I can’t tell if this is in jest, but assuming not—then no! In laws should not do any of this. It just causes problems. No one has this level of expectations for their parents/in laws. Unless they were raised that way.

If they are loving and caring then yes, do it all but what if they aren’t?

The best advice is to be like my dad. When me and my sister got married he told us, “once you have children the single most important thing in their life is the stability of your marriage. So your mother and I will do everything we can to help it be successful.”

So they have always treated my husband extremely well and been careful not to cause difficulty and to be the easy parents.
