Ideal diet for long term health/longevity

This is what he eats:

Breakfast:
one egg
one yogurt
one banana
grapes
often a kiwi
a thick slice of pinneaple
a few pieces of mango
some strawberries
a small cup of espresso

Meal - generally one large meal a day
Split pea soup (he loves this and eats it almost daily)
one broiled chicken thigh or 3 oz fish
vegetables: cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, might have a small potato included but not usually
fried plantains
often (but not always) avocado

snack: homemade fruit juice

dinner: sweets!! He loves sweets and will always have a piece of dessert!

Note: all frying is done with olive oil and there is often oil on the veggies (not margarine or butter)

When he was younger, he ate less fruit, more fish, would have nuts and a drink after work and often have wine with dinner. As he got older, he cut those things out and has time to walk more.

My brother sounds similar. He eats 2 meals a day: large breakfast, large dinner. No lunch. He never snacks. His breakfast is 2-3 pieces of fruit, a pastry, 2 cups of coffee with milk, 1 carton of yoghurt. I guess all that sugar keeps him going all day long.

Large dinner of almost anything. But tons of vegetables, always. Salad every evening to start his meal. An avocado every evening as appetizer. And dessert to end it. 3 beers. This is like 5 dinners for me!

He is nearly 60, tall and lanky. Looks late 40s. He has never gained an ounce over his ideal weight. He graduated top of his HS class but the thought of college turned him off. He has always worked a physical job and never needed to join a gym. Like he says, "I exercise 8 hours day!"

I thought I was vegetarian but I am really fruit-etarian. I eat 6-7 pieces of fruit a day. 20 years ago a doc told me I was pre-diabetic. However, the numbers have never gone into the danger zone. All my docs since her have told me I am NOT pre-diabetic.

Last night I had a red grapefruit for dinner, with a little maple syrup. Yummm.

I take 3 30-minute fast walks a day, so maybe that balances things out. 15 minutes of light dumbbells 5 days a week. I love my arms.

I also eat Blue Zone (fish but no meat) but I really cut back on dairy. It no longer agrees with this 50-year-old body.

someone do me!

breakfast: English muffin (Dave's killer) with two pats of butter and low sugar jelly

lunch: cashew yogurt, blueberries, small handful each of walnuts and mueslix

after school snack: hard boiled egg

supper: big salad with veggies and rotisserie chicken or ground beef on top. (beef is grass fed). I use full fat thousand island sparingly.

vodka tonic and about 10 dots for dessert or a homemade dark chocolate with almond butter peanut butter cup.
