To the spinach smoothie person. Your smoothy cuts all the fiber into smithereens so you are losing out on the benefits of fiber. Yes you have your micronutrients but fiber is critical and underappreciated.

That’s not accurate. If she were juicing she’d be losing all the fiber, but she’s eating all the fiber. https://healthyeating.sfgate.com/fruit-lose-fiber-used-smoothie-11293.html

Something about it triggering inflammation within GI system

And the horrific amount of hormones and medications given to the cows.

These studies never clarify the kind of meat their subjects are eating. I buy small farmer food, not feedlot grossness, and they’re not goosing the cattle with unnecessary hormones and meds (unless they’re sick and need meds).

For longevity look at blue zone diets, basically plant based pescatarian, plus don’t eat all the time and move.

No. It does not matter if your fiber is in long threads or in ground up bits. Fiber is basically the ingredient that is not being absorbed by the body. So it works to bulk up the liquified food mixture and moves it through the gut. It helps to effectively scrub the walls of your gut as it moves along removing waste product. It also helps in, lowering the glycemic index of the food by adding the non-absorbable bulk, and providing PREBIOTIC enviornment to the good gut bacteria. It also absorbs a good amount of water and makes the stool bulky allowing for easy pooping and timely removal of toxins.

Isn't losing the fiber more of an issue with juicing? As PP mentioned, a smoothie doesn't really eliminate any parts of the ingredients.

My nutritionist told me 2 cups of fruit is too much sugar for my 50 yo body.

If you aren’t diabetic or almost, 2 cups of fruit shouldn’t be a problem

I really think work outweighs diet for longevity.
Physical and cognitive work.
Of course not if you are obese and eat crap day and night or similar unhealthy diet.
I watched quite a few iof those blue zone docs and the common thread seems to be keeping active and having a family/social support.

Your nutritionist is a whack job, unless you are diabetic.
Selling you some mumbo-jumbo nonsense. I
Think about it, she is saying that two apples per day is too much fruit?
And you are paying her?
People just love wasting money!

I thought the fruit vs smoothy is like steel cut oats vs instant oat meal. They are both the same food...and neither is bad for you...but the processing of the instant takes away from the overall affect on your body.

I was trying to lose 20lbs at 50 yo.

Imagine this, maybe you don’t know everything… I basically said I’d rather be overweight than give up fruit.

I did stick to 1 cup for 4 months lost 12 lbs and then resumed eating it and gained 1/2 back.
