Then post the real link. That way you can't claim that "oh, I was sabotaged!"

The fact is that no more than 2,185 parents have ever voted for in-person. The current poll for virtual is well over 16K. You know this. That's why you're trying so hard to discredit the results.

This stay open at all costs doesn't seem to be working. :/

That is correct, re: hospitilizations.

But honestly, after 2 years, you have to be able to provide evidence that closing schools would result in reductions in hospitalizations. Now that we know the damage of remote instruction, the "well, why not try it and just see if it works?" approach is not acceptable to most parents.

If there was a belief that it was an effective tool to reduce spread, school closure would have more support. But people know that if we close schools, we'll just have closed schools & packed hospitals.

It wont actually do anything to help

+1. I'm someone who has changed my mind on virtual schooling, because I've watched how it's played out. Kids suffer and the curve doesn't flatten. At this point shutting down schools is just "doing something" for it's own sake. It's a pointless sacrifice.

+100

And to be fair, I think school closure decision makers (the admins, BOE, etc) are good people. And they want to be 'part of the solution'. But the only thing left that they can do is shut down schools. But that doesnt actually contribute to the solution. But I understand the urge to DO SOMETHING, even when you know logically, that your only option wouldnt actually help.

But emotionally, the urge to help must be strong. But they have to be strong enough to resist the emotional urge, and stay true to facts.

Yup, it helps when PTAs and unions use mailing lists to promote petitions. Desperate people taking desperate measures. Petitions are meaningless and whether or not schools should be open is NOT up for debate.

LOL, why don't the stay safe at all costs nutcases give it up. Schools are open...the BOE is committed to this. They know they will be voted out if they close schools now. It is a hot button and people will come out in droves to vote them out.

? Am wondering what your point is. If your sole source of news is television that's a problem. You need to read a good newspaper where you might actually get important details

It's pretty much down to one poster who obsesses about this petition as if it means anything to decisioning bodies.

Yup and most schools in the nation are OPEN!! Most parents want schools OPEN. Most parents are fed up with teachers unions.

The parents even won in ultra liberal Chicago against the CTU which now can only close if they have 30% of teachers absent (40% of students absent)...a far cry from what MCPS teachers union is asking for.
