Yellow and green school parents

Or said another way, what can be done to get the positives who did not report to show that we are actually all red and virtual should be put into place for two weeks to have time to assess. Why put our teachers, healthcare providers etc. unnecessarily at risk?

Anyone out of school should be required to provide a test. Anyone who shows signs of illness should be sent home and tested. Schools should stop testing and require parents to do it.

You do realize a policy like that would drive more sick students to class, don’t you?

We already have a lot of sick kids coming to class. We need to make it more difficult, not easier so parents will think twice before sending their sick kids to school. Schools need to stop being parents and health care providers. We already are short staffed.

There aren’t enough to tests.

Yes, there are. Lots of places listed every day to take kids on the county website. Its called parenting.

If colleges are virtual until end of January and Privates are, too. What's your problem OP? Are you not equally concerned about the infected people NOT testing or reporting to the school? Get over yourself.

People were doing it before winter break to go on vacation.

Anonymous wrote:OP here- I read this on another thread and became really concerned since I couldn’t imagine people faking test results. I am not pro-virtual and I can see this red yellow green list is bs. A way to slowly move us into virtual without declaring virtual for everyone. I am concerned about my children and their well-being.
You need not worry about these small details. Look around at the trends around the country and the world and you can clearly see where we are headed. If not red today, it will be by next week. Why go through the confusion of a few days in-person only to wind up virtual next week. By early-mid February, the 12 to 15s will be boosted and then, it will make sense for high school and maybe middle school to be in-person again. Assuming that MCPS is smart enough to implement more measures in the building to optimize healthy air - which they have still failed to do!

The pro-virtual crowd is always raising the bar on what is necessary for in-person schooling. Why? There have not been mass outbreaks associated with school reopening. If you want to find things to shut down, go to the mall or the bars or some other non-essential service.

+1 Once again, schools are the first to close but bars in Pike and Rose have shoulder to shoulder maskless patrons for happy hour.

What the hell?
Covid data is sent to the school by the department of health.
Yes you are supposed to inform the school because you are likely to get to it faster than the dept of health, but you can't just make shit up.
I do hope one of you gets busted doing that though.

how do we know if we are a yellow or green or red school? I am looking at the covid dashboard and it just gives raw numbers...

TIA

(I see the schools that they are saying are RED, but not which are yellow vs green)

Seneca Valley HS pyramid - big spread in ES, MS and HS. I am not surprised at all as it is densely packed. Lots of apartments too.

Oh you need to stop. Nobody is faking positive tests.
You know very well there is an active movement from parents not to report positive cases so schools stay open and Pilates classes can continue for parents.

Nobody is reporting a fake Covid positive. But maybe they should.
Honestly, it never occurred to me but we need to counterbalance the right wing nuts who want kids in school no matter what the risk.
I think your post may have given us an idea that we can use if MCPS keeps under reporting.

And what is the risk exactly in keeping kids in school? Seriously people who want to close schools have no logical case any longer. Every single argument can be refuted with data.
