What can be done to stop pro-virtual parents from faking positive covid tests to shut down the yellow and green schools? Seems like we are screwed! Although green schools will turn red eventually but some parents can speed that up by fake positives

Nothing. This system was either purposely or incompetently designed to get schools in the red to manufacture virtual outcomes. It's an absolute farce.

Everybody will be red. There is no escaping. Some non-red schools have teachers that are infected so the proposition is that kids go to school to have zoom classes.... we should just put everything in virtual and have a clean start in mid January.

I have heard that either way, teachers need to report in person. Is that true? Including for the first, asynchronous day or not? If so, then teachers at least have little incentive to go virtual, other than perhaps fewer bus or other duties.

What can be done to stop in-person-at-any-cost parents from faking negative covid tests to keep all schools open? Seems like we are screwed! Although green schools will turn red eventually but some parents can slow that down by fake negatives or refusing to test.

OP, I think we can push MCPS to only close for staff shortages. If kids are testing positive in sky-high percentages, they'd be too sick to attend any kind of school, in-person or virtual. And if there aren't enough staff, close them, period. None of this virtual nonsense.

In another thread, somebody's high schooler said they're already talking about it. If a system can be gamed, it will be gamed. It's human nature going back to the beginning of time.

Perhaps the parents who fake positive tests will balance those who really do have positive tests but don't report them.

Maybe the parents who fake positives to shut down schools will cancel out the parents who won't t report positives/won't test their kids because they don't want schools to shut down.
