| You really need to get your mental health checked. I hardly doubt anyone is doing that. Anyone who wanted virtual has been in it all year as we were smart enough to see this coming. If you want to stop schools from closing do your part to help stop the spread. Pretty simple. Hope your vacation and all the socializing and indoors dining was worth it. |
wtf?

This. Student absences shouldn't count. We are a super covid conservative family, and I shouldn't have to pay for the fact that your child decided to attend a NYE party. Only the staff positives should count for closing the school. The covid positive kids can figure out school for 14 days asynchronously. |
That may be, but it's much more human nature to concoct wild conspiracy theories (and I mean that, it's how brains work) in the absence of both evidence and without following them to their most logical conclusions. I responded to this ridiculousness in the other thread: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/120/1026107.page#21655850 ... and you do realize that you just said, essentially: "I read on a purely anonymous Internet forum that someone's teen reported hearing some other teens talking about whether or not this were possible to do. Therefore it will most likely happen." |
Is OP pro-virtual and advertising how to get the job done? |
You aren't super covid conservative if your kids are in person school. Yes, if a child is sick and don't submit a negative test, it absolutely should be counted. People like you will just hide symptoms. |
Brilliant point.

| The high schooler's might. They'll talk about it at their reunions. |
And herein lies the rationalization of the hysterical parents insisting we lock down schools for "safety" even as they go about their shopping, eating out, and entertainment. |
First of all many HS kids actually want to keep in-person school - if only for the social dimension at least for my kid. And second of all, time to go back to HS yourself to learn proper pluralization and use of the apostrophe. |
This thread demonstrates exactly why this is a community problem, not an MCPS problem. |
| This is insane. I can’t believe parents would report fake results or withhold them. |
I can't speak to faking, but they've been talking about withholding on here for months. |
How many people do you really believe are doing this? Cases counts were ticking up before school closed for the holiday break. Case counts county and nationwide have been going up over the holidays. Did you really think that this county wasn’t going to continue to have increased case post break? |
| So you think people are going to lie and say their kids have covid? Really doubt this.... |
