I agree! The metric needs to be "If you're sick, stay home." And that's it. |
exactly. didn't we learn in 2020 that closing schools didn't stop the spread or flatten the curve? |
We haven't. There was no shut down with Delta. |

Our school had something like 50 cases reported in the letters sent out the last two weeks of school, prior to 12/21. The dashboard still says we have 6. |
| I’ve heard it is going to be ALL. Not yet announced. |
this is a no brainer. It will be all schools affected--just a matter of when. Gov. won't go all virtual and neither will county because nobody wants to make that decision. |
| Why would the 180 day rule be relevant - the schools are going remote, not halting all teaching. Officially won’t these still count as school days? |
It's amazing how many do not see that this 5% percent metric and color coded dashboard are just ways to close schools while absolving MCPS officials of making that decision. Parents really should be outraged. |
Yup seems like that’s what the plan is.. no way the red schools will be yellow or green after 14 days. If anything the yellow and green will be red soon. Its all virtual for everyone. MCPS ruins another year of learning for our kids. Especially the younger elementary and special needs students. |
How did you hear this information? What’s your source? |
Agree it will be shut down but no way are they doing all virtual. |
| The process is flawed without controls in place. 20% of the parents could shutter a school for the rest of the school year by calling in just enough results to cross the threshold. The same parent could just say their kid keeps testing positive and keep their number tallied every two weeks. |
DC is playing the same stupid game. I wish Bowser had the balls to close schools because dragging it out is stupid and makes it hard to plan. |
The Maryland State Board of Education passed a resolution directing schools to provide 180 days of in-person instruction. But they've since said they don't consider it binding. |
