Wrong Tweet above.

Inconvenient facts.

Philadelphia, a city of roughly 1.5 million people, has had more homicides this year (521 as of Dec. 6) than the nation's two largest cities, New York (443 as of Dec. 5) and Los Angeles (352 as of Nov. 27). That's an increase of 13% from 2020, a year that nearly broke the 1990 record.

Chicago, the nation's third-largest city, leads the nation with 739 homicides as of the end of November, up 3% from 2020, according to Chicago Police Department crime data. Chicago's deadliest year remains 1970 when there were 974 homicides.

Philadelphia's homicide record was broken in the same week that Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville eclipsed records for slayings.

Other major cities that have surpassed yearly homicide records are St. Paul, Minnesota; Portland, Oregon; Tucson, Arizona; Toledo, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Rochester, New York; and Albuquerque, New Mexico, which broke its record back in August.

Generally the guns used in the Philly murders are illegal guns.

At what point do citizens say enough is enough, these policies aren't working. Letting repeat violent offenders back out to commit yet more crimes with little or no bail puts ALL voters at risk.

And all the folks 18 months ago who screamed abolish/defund the police act like it never happened.

But what I don’t understand is given that the vast majority of the victims are poor POC why isn’t there any outrage amongst that community. The democrats assume they’ll always have the poor POC vote and yet fail that constituency repeatedly. Why the blond loyalty to a party machine that is so condescending don dismissive of their needs?

There is! But marginalized communities often don't speak up. They often feel it won't do any good, or they are afraid to for other reasons (like immigration status concerns). Politicians don't hear them, so they don't care about them. Even if they pretend that they do.

Most of the murders are not being committed by people worried about their immigration status. Quite the contrary.

It is young black men, but we have to dance around that, of course.

Too many black men are incarcerated that is why bail has been eliminated. Equity.

We don't have to dance around that. We need to target the young, low-income, inner-city population and give them greater opportunities. Improve the class sizes and infrastructure in their schools. Create more neighborhood-based places for them to go. Send police out to interact with them in a positive way, making connections. Give them job training and help them learn the skills to find and keep jobs Our society hates to pay to be proactive, we only spend money when it's too late.

There are help wanted signs all over Philadelphia. There are currently plenty of jobs available.

The easy money of the "gangsta" culture.

Lack of positive male role models in the home.

If it helps to see it more objectively: just look at what happened to Native Americans when they lost their meaningful lifestyle and went to live on reservations.

No one has trouble drawing a straight line there, yet with uneducated, chronically unemployed and consumer based economy/ lifestyle everyone asks , " gee what is happening to America ???"

Sheesh, There are many, many help wanted signs in Philly and Philly has good city transit.

There is not outrage about the individual murders because snitches get stitches. There are too many black males incarcerated so we no longer incarcerate.

Hasn’t the US been doing this since the Democrat’s Great Society programs? The answer, of course, is a lot of money was spent but little progress was made. Instead, the programs have perpetuated the issues by making marriage and paternal responsibility a rarity and by creating an industry to mishandle the programs.

Encourage Dads in the homes. There is plenty of money being sent to peoples "cards."

The reality is that too many black men are committing violent crimes.

Interestingly, the places with the highest RATE, not numbers because of population density, are mostly in the South in red and small towns.

https://247wallst.com/special-report/2021/11/23/towns-with-most-murders/4/

Further, homicide is up all over the US, not just in protest heavy towns or blue states. TExas is a mess, for one.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/11/3/hld-surge-in-us-homicides-continues-in-2021-why

"Homicides have increased across the US, not just in places where there were protests or where police morale has been poor, Hechinger said."
