This was the start of the “K” trend. Now it blends into the Kre8tive spelling of traditional names—though admittedly much less cringeworthy than most. It’s “tacky light”

I prefer Catherine to Katherine but there is no universe where Katherine is tacky light.

Yeah, Katherine has been an accepted spelling since before the Crusades. And the "k" is likely from the Greek.

K is the trashiest letter of the alphabet.

Who are these people?

Totally get preferences, but as the mom to a C/Katherine, there are some weird takes in this thread.

I prefere Catherine, but I'm also perfectly happy with Katherine.

I do not like spelling either with an internal "a" or Kathryn.

Cate and Catie look weird. For that reason alone, you should go with K.

Except for Katherine, name a non trashy name that starts with K...

I think it depends on whether you will be using a nn. Katherine if your want Kate or Katie. Catherine for Cat. Cate and Caite are not typical spellings (though some people like to choose the unusual way)

I think Cate Blanchett did okay for herself.

It is more graceful! Great description.

Another vote for Catherine.

Just because you say it doesn't make it graceful...whatever that means!

I mean this is all opinion, so her viewpoint is as valid as yours, and vice versa. No need to be butthurt, Katherine.

Catherine.

I prefer any of the K spelling variants, because I'd want her to have the option of "Kate" down the road.

I think all spellings have the option of Kate--look at Kate Middleton.

Katherine if you want it to shorten to Kate or Katie. Catherine if you want people to assume her nickname is Cathy.
