You are right, it is a very serious school and it is not a party school though campus social life is not at all bad. You are probably also right about the diversity aspect of the student body. |

| Relatives attended Case, son (engineering) was close to heading there. What you commonly hear is "no one's first choice school." A lot of smart kids go there who didn't get accepted to Ivys. But, they end up liking it. Depends on what your kiddo is looking for. Great architecture, urban campus but has some green space and borders a big park (a bus runs across campus), Cleveland (and whatever your opinion is about that city and weather), GREAT if your kid is pursuing medical field. I was impressed by tour. These kids buckle down and study. |

Cleveland has improved. But it's no Pittsburgh (I'm from just outside the former; lived in the latter for several years). Case is an excellent school. Well-known in Ohio but mostly for very academic kids. That's not a bad thing. Lots of smart kids go there. Everyone else heads to OSU or Cincinnati (as well as the other less popular schools). Because it has the reputation of being one of the worst cities in north America. But it's so much better now than it used to be. And it has some beautiful suburbs. |
I love I’m Cleveland and sometimes go down to university circle for various things, and I am always surprised at the number of Asian students. Like if you go to the ice cream shop near Case, it is half Asian kids. |
| We visited over the summer and were really impressed (and weren't expecting to be). Thought the campus was lovely, urban enough to feel like a student could take advantage of all the things a city offers - eating, art, parks, but not in the high rise part of downtown. We even saw rabbits in the campus parks! The campus is adjacent to a beautiful park that includes the art museum. And the Cleveland Clinic is also near so the medial connection is clear. |
We took a tour and based on what I saw, I'd estimate that 75% of the student body was Asian and the rest were White. I'm sure the school's demographic data shows otherwise, but my DD didn't feel like there was enough diversity for her tastes. |
Wow! If diversity is an issue at Case it is not because 75% of the students are Asian (which it is not), it is because the school still admits lot more Caucasian and lot less URMs. |
PP just said what they saw...the actual self-reported data is 18% Asian and another 18% International... |
Saying 75% of the student body is Asian when the actual number is close to 20% should be labeled as what - dishonest, racist, ignorant...? |
That's true of any elite school. I went to Duke, and on this board people always talk about how it's soooo bro and fratty. Actually, you see mostly Asian nerds. -Asian nerd |
Oh relax dude...it was an observation... |
What is the source of this reputation information? What is it based on ? |
