| NP - we visited and it seemed like a good school for serious students. Plenty of research opportunities and professors are willing to help students if they need it. We had dinner at Little Italy and it was fantastic. My DC was surprised to learn that >40% of students were involved in greek life but our guide said the campus was dry and the fraternities/sororities were mission oriented in that they provided help to the community. Definitely not a party school. |
The idea that someone could find Cleveland bland and like Columbus is pretty weird. Columbus is literally used by marketing firms as a proxy for the entire US because it's so bland -- zero local character. Cleveland is one of the most ethnically diverse metro areas you'll find anywhere (radio shows in Polish, Hungarian, Spanish, Chinese, Yiddish, etc.), and it has a far, far better restaurant, theater, and museum scene than the cities you mention. |
We were also surprised that it was 40% greek because it didn't seem like a party school, so your point about the fraternities/sororities being mission oriented makes sense. |
40% seems high but I assume it probably includes people who are part of the greek life but do not live in a frat house. |
http://ohiohistorycentral.org/w/Western_Reserve_College Our UVA (great school btw) tour ended with the school acknowledging its role in slavery. CWRU's anti slavery history speaks for itself. So yeah, moronic comparison indeed. |
Yeah but Columbus is just more fun because it has more people from elsewhere. |
Not really. On employer once tried to sell me Columbus highlighting the large number of young college girls there are because of Ohio State. OH state football is the biggest thing at Columbus, not much else. |
