New to area soccer and live in Herndon. Do Herndon/Reston players usually try out for one of the above if trying to play in college? |

| It is always amazing how much focus D1 shows up. Most of these players that go to D1 barely see the field anyway..or maybe see it very little. Very few make an impact. Then, many of those that do wind up losing their place in the pecking order when the next recruiting class or kids from other countries come in. That is D1 soccer life. A club promoting a player that is not really D1 talent is not the greatest thing - I would not focus so much on the "how many". The more important thing is getting an education and enjoying your college experience. That can be done at any school, at any level (D1, D2 or D3). Soccer is over for the kids after college. Why is it so important which club sends the most kids to D1 schools? I am fairly certain many of these players would much more enjoy going to a school they chose to go to vs one that is the D1 school that their club promoted them to or the D1 school that happened to want them so they went there based on soccer (and then not being good enough to be an impact on that D1 team). I personally went through this - D1 recruit, all-state, etc. etc. and played 2 years at a D1 program. I played minutes but was not a star. I then spent my final two years at a D3 school where I played almost every minute of every match and had an amazing education experience and built lifelong relationships. My D3 education did me fairly well - I'm now retired at 45. Life is much bigger than how many kids a club sends to a D1 school. |

| Most of the kids playing ECNL are doing so because they want to play at a high level. Kids playing for McLean are there because they want to play DI and McLean sends girls to the highest level and those girls are able to hit the ground running. I can't comment on other clubs because I am not familiar. Just this past week, I watched freshman for McLean start or get major minutes at Wake Forest, Univ of Miami and USF. Penn State, UVA, Clemson, Georgetown, UNC and FSU are all elite programs with McLean players in leading roles. Coaches seek out McLean players because they play sophisticated soccer and play at a competitive level. |

Hold up. Lol. You’re not familiar with other clubs but you’re tracking where McLean players are getting minutes at in NCAA? |

Why is that surprising, Einstein. Clearly I have a connection to McLean and know current and former players. I don't have that connections to other clubs. |

| By when are most commitments completed? I have younger kids but still seems early in the year to have all commitments announced for class of 2022. |

Everything is verbal. Signing of NLI is coming up. Class of 22’s are seniors. Time is running out |

NLI signing date is November 10 this year. That’s when we’ll really be able to see which clubs still placed kids during COVID and which didn’t. And I know D3 athletes don’t formally sign NLIs, but there’s usually a social media push that day that will include all the 2022s. |
