Is the USA or CIA trying to shut down Wikileaks?

Anonymous
Julian Assange tweeted three strange tweets today - some sort of codes or hashtags regarding Ecuador, the UK, and John Kerry. (Assange is staying at the Ecuadorian embassy in the UK but the US wants to extradite him.)

The US gov't announced last week that it believes that the Russians are trying to interfere with the Presidential Election. The US believes the Russians are in cahoots with Assange/Wikileaks.

It is clear that the US/CIA/NSA is going to do whatever it takes to shut down Wikileaks ASAP (meaning within days) before he dumps any emails that could be truly damaging to Clinton.

Is Assange tweeting out stuff because the USA has convinced Ecuador to allow us to extradite him to the US?

Assange seems to be up to something..Well, the US seems to be up to something and Assange is taking to twitter to broadcast this fact.

Or is the US going to jam Wikileaks so no one can access it?

I do not put this past the US/NSA/CIA. I think they are going to do whatever it takes to stop Wikileaks immediately.

What say you all?

After being asked on another thread, if as a Jew, I was offended by words like 'banker', I believe the liberals have gone off the deep end.

So yes, I do believe they will try and shut up Assange.

This isn't like blowing up a bridge.

What you are suggesting is technically impossible. Wikileaks created a poison pill file years ago, and it is reasonable to assume they have continued to do so. So if something happens then all they have to do is get one person to distribute the encryption keys and it's all out.

There is no way to "take down" a file full of information.

But the information is on a server somewhere. Can't the CIA find it and destroy it?

Alternatively, can't the US arrest Assange and limit his ability to communicate to his team helping him with Wikileaks?

This is a really strange question. I would hope the US is trying to shut down Wikileaks and has been trying to shut it down since it started, because it is completely illegal. So what's your conspiracy theory?

Why now? The election? If so, the US is clearly on Clinton's side.

The information is probably copied onto a hundred servers. Any one of the hundred people that holds that file can decrypt it and upload the whole thing just by receiving the encryption key. That key could be held by any number of other people. Or if they wanted to automate it, they could set up a dead man trigger, where if a certain server or servers goes offline then the file is decrypted and posted online. A computer programmer with very basic knowledge could set this up.

Also I have to point out that if they were really sitting on data that the CIA was a so desperate to get to, for Hillary's benefit, there is no reason they have to take weeks to put it out. Hit send and be done with it.

Assange just had Internet access cut off at embassy.

It could be on multiple servers in multiple spots - spread out among others.

Furthermore, Ecuador granted him immunity for as long as he wants. He's in their embassy, and as long as he doesn't set foot outside the embassy, he's safe.

What a miserable life - Who would want that? He obviously has a mission and he's following through.

They are (were?) waiting until Nov. 1 to release information b/c - according to what I read - there would be no time to replace Hillary at this last minute.

yea - but again - multiple servers, encryption, yada yada

Real life is better than Mr. Robot! (almost)

Julian Assange's internet link has been intentionally severed by a state party. We have activated the appropriate contingency plans.

Agreed.

Wasn’t it Hillary, when she was SoS, who spoke of droning Assange?

See, for me? I think that our government doing illegal things is much, much more critical than Wikileaks exposing the fact that our government is doing illegal things. Our government is supposed to be subservient to the people, not the other way around.
