If this is true? Going to be an interesting election. Can you imagine a government that does this so that information about their crooked ways does not get out to the people? Think about that.

If this were a movie, you'd be rooting for Assange.

I've always been puzzled why nothing was ever leaked about the Republican campaign or RNC machinations. Unless obviously they are as pure as the driven snow.

Back on message, if our government had anything to do with silencing and shutting off internet access then we are in a lot of trouble in this country. Wake up people, thus us not liberal or republican, this is our right to free speach.

Doesn't matter now. Obama gave away (literally) our ownership of the internet.

No he didn't. Why do you folks post such hogwash?

want more links? Or can you google it yourself? Just because it's not in dailykos, HuffPo or MotherJones doesn't mean it's not true.

So Republicans are for deregulation and the private sector, except when Obama continues with a policy that George W Bush supported?
I'm guessing that you don't work in tech. This sentence in the Forbes article was enough to show me that the author had no idea what she was talking about: "Currently, the U.S. Government vets and approves every domain name and IP Address on the Internet.". They really don't.

You should probably tone down the smart ass replies since it is obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about. The US government has not "owned" the Internet for decades. Without having ownership, it can not give away ownership. The Internet is a network of networks. Trying telling your Internet Service Provider that it is owned by the government. I am sure that Verizon, Comcast, RCN, or whoever will be surprised to hear that.

What the US did is allow control of certain Internet functions to pass to ICANN. Those are important functions, no doubt, but hardly constitute ownership. There are any number of other critical functions that are equally as important as those controlled by ICANN that have never (or at least not for a long time) been under US government control.

You mock the websites that you believe that I read (incorrectly, at that). But, don't have the wherewithal to make yourself an educated reader. As the NPR source to which you link makes clear, the allegations you are spreading comes from Republicans who are misrepresenting the facts for political reasons. It is actually you, not me, who has been mislead by partisanship.

We no longer can control who gets to create the .buttheads top level domain. Perhaps his is why conservatives are mad. I'm not saying. People are saying. I don't know, but people are saying.

So yes, I do believe they will try and shut up Assange.

Given the opportunity and, of course, plausible deniability, a sanction would be implemented.

Anonymous wrote:Julian Assange tweeted three strange tweets today - some sort of codes or hashtags regarding Ecuador, the UK, and John Kerry. (Assange is staying at the Ecuadorian embassy in the UK but the US wants to extradite him.)

The US gov't announced last week that it believes that the Russians are trying to interfere with the Presidential Election. The US believes the Russians are in cahoots with Assange/Wikileaks.

It is clear that the US/CIA/NSA is going to do whatever it takes to shut down Wikileaks ASAP (meaning within days) before he dumps any emails that could be truly damaging to Clinton.

Is Assange tweeting out stuff because the USA has convinced Ecuador to allow us to extradite him to the US?

Assange seems to be up to something..Well, the US seems to be up to something and Assange is taking to twitter to broadcast this fact.

Or is the US going to jam Wikileaks so no one can access it?

I do not put this past the US/NSA/CIA. I think they are going to do whatever it takes to stop Wikileaks immediately.

What say you all?

I say that your family will be much happier if you go back on your medications. And the tin hat you are wearing does nothing. It isn't even fashionable.

Still waiting for Wikileaks to ever release something damaging about Russia or China.

Exactly.

+2

WikiLeaks is basically a tool of Russia at this point. If this were a movie, rooting for Assange would be like rooting for Emperor Palpatine. No, I guess it'd be like rooting for JarJar Binks, since he's the emperor's idiot tool.

Facebook and twitter were also "on fire" with #Repealthe19th

Lesson learned: a lot of idiots use social media.

(Then again, I think we all already knew that a lot of idiots use social media, so I guess no lessons were learned today)

See, for me? I think that our government doing illegal things is much, much more critical than Wikileaks exposing the fact that our government is doing illegal things. Our government is supposed to be subservient to the people, not the other way around.

So far he hasn't turned up anything illegal. But you're cool with people illegally hacking secure servers because you don't like the government? Then go live in a lawless state of that's what you want.

There is silence from US got so this confirms they had something to do with it. John kerry was in London yesterday.

There is also silence from Clinton campaign but she did post somthing about Alex Jones on social media implying that those on right are crazy.

I have no doubt that our US government is behind this.

Have you listened to Alex Jones lately? He said that Hillary Clinton is a actual demon who smells like sulfur. That's crazy.
