| just me or has he been SUPER cocky lately? he literally brings every topic back to himself, and don't get me started on his vague series of posts about a 'mystery girl': "I'm not saying who it is because I want privacy but I'm going to talk about it all the time and keep bringing it up to get people guessing and get lots of comments. I am convinced most people in radio (and TV for that matter) are full of themselves and play favorites. Think about this, people in radio post on social media, and then one will ask a question and tag the appropriate person, and never get a response. That is being selfish, and if enough people see it, a snowball occurs and listener ship drops. Notifications are pretty clear on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (even if you are not logged in, you can get them when you log in or in the case of Twitter and Facebook, into your e-mail). Going out in the community helps in terms of putting a name to a face, but that is only part of what "public figures" should do. I am simply amazed how much attention TV and radio people want, but rarely reciprocate.

Sadly I have had to abandon country radio because I can't stand him and that seems to be the only country station I can get clearly. I think he's always been full of himself.

everything is always always always about him over the past three years that I have occasionally listened to his show.
and I say this as a more frequent listener to the Kane show. |

He is so obnoxious. I HATE Bobby Bones (the personality--not making a judgment against him as a human being). I fantasize sometimes of meeting him one day and reading off my list of specific examples of how he is horrible.
Among them: -self-deprecation in a way that clearly is fishing for compliments and reassurance, as in "I know I'm ugly, but..." so that people will tell him he's cute. -self-deprecation in a way that he pretends to not understand how he is successful. "I don't think I'm funny, but for some CRAZY reason, other people do. So weird! Oh well..." -claims of humility on his social media accounts, but not understanding that when people brag about humble and kind things they've done, it loses the "humble" part of it. He's been called out, and then claims that a) he doesn't post from the BB Show account (while posting from the BB Show account) and b) 'take that negativity elsewhere." -how he actually was busted on his self-deprecation when he paid for anti-Bobby Bones billboards, so that he could use them as fodder during his show. -he constantly interrupts everyone else on the show with insults disguised as jokes. In the same vein, he often makes fun of Amy for being ignorant about a certain topic, while at the same time demonstrating how little he himself knows about it. -nonstop book promotion, while claiming to "not care" if anyone buys it. "You can buy it, or not, really, I don't care. By the way, it's available on Amazon, and I've mentioned it five times an hour for the past month." -constant promotion of his stupid band -his fake "issues" that come up that are all manufactured for the show, yet he/they claim are real problems. I know all shows do that, but his show in particular seems to make a big deal about how they're all "just friends talking with a bunch of microphones in front of them." -clickbait-style "coming up" promos. Again, I know every show does it, on radio and TV, but his seem especially obnoxious. "Coming up, Lunchbox has a very strange habit that we all think is disgusting but he thinks everyone does it!" Then an hour alter, we find out LB bites his toenails or something. Whatever, boring, not funny. I could really go on and on... I used to listen on occasion on rotation with WPOC, whose morning show has a more comfortable, though sometimes less interesting, vibe, and Sirius. But I bought a different vehicle this summer and my spouse now drives the Sirius-enabled car, so I fell back in love with making mix CDs. I don't miss radio at all! |
| Omg I forgot about the band. Eddie seems like a nice guy but I feel like his kids will be so embarrassed when they see their dad in music videos for songs like 'potty party.' |
|
14:55 - that's a good list....some radio is "character" driven in an attempt to get people to think that the hosts are really that way in real life.
|
| Sounds just like the Kane Show |
|
14:55 here, I thought of some more...
-how he claims he's going to be "in trouble" with the higher-ups for doing things that he thinks the audience will like. Like, ooh, I'm going to get yelled at for playing this song, or saying this (faux controversial) thing, but I don't care! Then referencing it often, claiming that he "almost got fired." His show is crazy popular, we know and he knows that he's not getting fired. -he's really not that nice. I watched a few of the videos he's posted of himself on FB or wherever, mostly because I wanted to match the face and the voice talking at the same time, and he's kind of a jerk. Once he was whining about construction in his building, and all the workers were "idiots," etc., for doing their jobs. I'm sure there's an audience for him, and he's not unique , but I just cannot stand him. DC is their largest market, but I think it's also very different from their other markets. I honestly don't know anyone that really, really likes his show. The country just-play-music people I know prefer WPOC or WFRE, and the "I sort of like country but also a good morning show" just switched to a different morning zoo. |
At least WFRE play country artists that most people haven't heard of in an attempt to get those artists exposure. WMZQ is repetitious and plays the big names only. |
Whaaaaaaaaaat? Haven't you heard Bobby pat himself on the back nonstop for promoting "unknowns," and how he gets in trouble for doing that? Except, wait, those artists are the same ones that are featured as "Highway finds" on Sirius, and are clearly on I Heart Radio's list for up-and-comers. Really, though, you'd think Chris Jansen owes his entire one-song career to Bobby Bones liking "But Me a Boat" so much. Seriously, though, all the non-satellite stations play the same country artists, because they're all owned by I Heart Radio and have the same playlists. Across the nation, they are all the same. |

He buys billboards to pretend people don't like him.

Bobby has been advocate of female country artists, which is a good thing (google Saladgate). The problem is, neither he or the powers that be on "The Highway" pay attention to the charts they should be (there is more than Billboard and Mediabase). The Highway is repetitive as hell too and have been called out on it on their Facebook page. I listened to The Highway's top 30 countdown yesterday, and there were 5 female artists on the countdown and you could probably name 4 of them without much effort. The survey that sometimes their listeners get on their e-mail is a pre-determined list, and there is zero room for adding songs for consideration. Nashville is not as smart as they think they are. Just two weeks ago, Maren Morris was in Entertainment Weekly, and she had a huge hit earlier this year titled "My Church" and has a song called "80's Mercedes" in the regular rotation in major markets. |
| He has now been doing a dramatic countdown on snapchat all day to reveal his girlfriend. Come on Bobby, this bit is old. |

The only thing interesting about the show is Amy and her endless adoption battle... I can't believe how long it is taking her - I just can't image how hard it would be to wait.
But to OP's point, yes, I can't stand the show because of his giant ego. I just try to stay up to date on her adoption situation through social media. |
