Public Defenders are usually *in* with the prosecutors, so it's in the defendant's best interest to obtain a private lawyer if at all possible.

What do you mean?

The DC public defenders office is staffed with excellent lawyers, at least in many people's opinions.

Perhaps you could tell us why an 89 day sentence seems appropriate to you, considering his history of stabbing and threatening people.

Never said it was appropriate. Start a new thread for those topics so this thread can get back to facts of the immediate case.

Actually, there is a "facts only" thread. Why don't you go there? BAM.

BAM? really? Let's try a different line of reasoning: please start a thread in the political forum on if there should be consequences for what you deem poor judicial decisions, etc. I doubt anyone on here is arguing that 89 days was an appropriate sentence. The majority of posters, however, probably prefer comments covering change of lawyers for Wint, new evidence related to the crime scene and related areas, updates on SS' driver, etc.

Hanover who said he has experience in this type of case said Wint's mother, sister and brother hired him

omg please stop talking please, you know you should take a break and just read some of the posts on this forum. So many on this thread are so out of their depth here it is just unbearable to come here every two or three days and they are still here spouting inanities--you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about the DC court system, or seemingly any court system at all--you know even less about the Public Defender Service in DC, which is one of the finest in the country--

Sir or madam, you are annoying everyone with your repetitive, tangential, wild eyed posts. Perhaps it is time to take a break and just listen to some more informed, rational posts that relate to known facts.

The DC Bar deals very harshly with any attorney who knowingly accepts stolen $$ for a legal fee, all lawyers in criminal cases know this, so no.

Thanks for posting this! I had a feeling it wasnt the dad's side. Theres alot of back story to this that would tell us more about wint's personality and motivations. Guess we'll never know but I do think it's telling that the father released a classy statement after wint's arrest, nothing from the mother. Then the mother hires a lawyer who "has experience in this type of case". Not to be snarky but does this mean he has experience defending sadistic monsters? Child killlers? The cases cant have been too high profile cuz there's not much info available about prior cases he' handled.
RIP Philip Amy Savvas Vera
I pray for justice.

It would be the courts of Maryland and NYC correct? Not DC
