Speed limit is posted at 55 mph. Several coaches were going 65 mph. Darryl was going 100 mph, got busted and is claiming he got singled out because of racism. What’s funny is even if you added up all the potentially true arguments the Hayfield supporters have posted about other schools going back 10 years they don’t add up to what Hayfield tried to pull off in 10 months.
Overton was by far away away the worst abuser. He deserves to get punished first. Then the lower level cheaters can be dealt with next.

The pupil placement system has always been abused for sports--but it is not illegal.

Uh ....South Lakes and Westfield are both in Fairfax County. What happened with Freedom kids transferring to Hayfield was between two SEPARATE counties and school systems....and apparently abusing a federal law regarding homeless students. Comparing legitimate pupil placements within the same school system with what happened at Hayfield is apples and oranges.

How could a high school principal run so far off the rails and not be corrected before he dug himself so deep into a hole? Whistleblowing staff was transferred, unqualified staff was hired (Overton), parent complaints were ignored, staff members acted outside of their authority, Virginia High School League (VHSL) rules were ignored, students were mistreated, and the list goes on. It is apparent that multiple levels of leadership above the principal were aware of the nefarious conduct and chose to ignore or conceal it. Likewise, as the information rose to the superintendent, she either failed to grasp the emerging facts or was afraid to act for whatever reason. We have every right to expect more from a leader in her position, and her degree of involvement is in question. Most of the school board took no action, with one member even defending the conduct by indicating that this was the only way these kids (transferred football players) would get into college. So if they cheat but the outcome is achieved, that’s acceptable. Is this the ethics we are modeling to our students? The only reasonable conclusion at this point is that FCPS leaders, including the superintendent and even the School Board, are potentially implicated to some degree in the misconduct."

Unethical, inappropriate behavior from adults in a school system. That so many complaints were ignored, retaliation was tolerated while the top admins defended this pile of steaming shite, means people need to be fired. This isn't just about football.
