Kind of a sexy 70s look.

My favorite part of his look is that he looks happy.

Talk about a nonbinary look. What used to be called milquetoast

I don’t think that’s milquetoast. He’s hot. Like Bowie or Prince gender fluid hot. Milquetoast is the opposite of hot.

Yeah, this person has probably been misusing “milquetoast” for decades. Milquetoast means overly mild/boring, pp.

Is she wearing Skechers? I sort of love that.

I love her look. Looks comfortable and is flattering too.

I get the intent and can relate, but I don't love the Skechers (or similar) for the outfit or the event.

She can wear anything and this is so, so bad. What a strange choice.

The color looks beautiful on her but the dress needs to be reworked...A pair of scissors would do.

Removing the gloves would look better.

Is it just the angle or is she starvation level.thin? Disturbing.

Starvation level thin. It's been going on for awhile. I know I am being judgemental, but she's 57. It's not possible for her to look 25 anymore and she should stop trying.

Which actress are you talking about here? At first I thought Ariana but she’s not 57.

And I can’t go back and find the Kiera K pic, I’ve always been in awe of how gossamer she appears, when did she get buff and …masculine-ish? I hardly recognized her. It’s beyond “Well she’s older,” it looks like her whole body type changed.

Nicole Kidman. I don't think she's coping well with getting older

She is doing alright for herself- still working a lot, even getting nominated is an honor. NK is still married after 20 years and appears to remain close with her family in Australia.

She has managed to protect two daughters with KU, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, from the spotlight.

It must be incredibly stressful to juggle her busy work schedule and family and the impossible beauty standards for women in Hollywood (everywhere actually). She probably hardly has time to eat

Women are body shames for being thin or fat.

NP Maybe I'm in denial, but I don't think it's body shaming to state that Nicole Kidman looks too thin in the picture. It's a fact.

There are a couple actresses, Nicole Kidman and Zendaya included, who just exude a beautiful ethereal atheistic. Just beautiful to watch in motion on the red carpet. Designers, clothes, jewelers, photographers, cameras, all love them. I could watch them all day and never really need to see them act.

All things can be true. It’s wonderful she gets on with her family. But it’s unfortunate she puts so much plastic in her face and so many ribs show at age 57.

Bewildered by the black gloves as well as the black shoes and hose (hose!!!) Pink like that with black just makes me think of Minnie Mouse.

It’s an opinion, not a fact. She’s been rail thin all her life. Her sister’s the same. My opinion is that her body looks amazing.

Maybe, but I think craft services has food available ALL THE TIME for people on set, and so I think when you're actually shooting it's pretty easy to stay fed if you want (and probably hard to resist if you're like me.) I really wonder whether she has an IBS problem or some variation on gluten intolerance (which is really common among the Irish). The majority of thin women that I know over the age of 50 have a serious gut problem which is why they are so thin. The rest of them are distance runners that are very Type A about their running and diet.

I was struck by how thin she looks, too. It's different from how she used to look. And yes we all get older - if we're lucky enough - but the thinness looks too extreme to my eyes. Who cares wht my eyes think, on the other hand.

She looks like she just arrived from last call at the truck stop.

What?? She looks amazing and her dress is flattering.

But her hosting - snore -
Did not enjoy her overly earnest and obvious take on what makes for good TV drama

She also doesn't look quite like herself. I don't know if it's the weight loss or the work she's had done, but she just looked off.

I agree - Salma looked fine superficially but seemed like a shadow of her former self when she spoke … it was so intense to say absolutely nothing interesting …

I actually thought most presenters were really off, like they were given awkward material. Even Melissa McCarthy was not as good as she usually is. Strange as I typically cringe at the host (not this time, NG was solid!) and find these presenter parts nice and smooth.

I thought Melissa was good, and Seth R pulled it off, but I agree that all of the presenters looked like they were being made to read the cue cards backwards or something. The timing and delivery was almost universally bad, and some of the jokes they were given were just truly terribly unfunny. (I can't remember who now, but there was one couple I felt particularly bad for -- no one laughed and the joke was not even like a bad-dad-joke level of funny.)

Why was Emilia Perez getting so much praise? I tried watching and it was cringe-worthy.

I haven't watched it yet -- the musical element is off-putting to me. I saw everything in the Comedy/Musical category except Emilia Perez and Wicked and really liked all of them.

Zoe Saldana was annoying at the ceremony last night. I thought it was so obnoxious for her to run up on stage to give the award for, I think, foreign language film? It wasn't her moment, she could have sat in her seat and cheered them on like everyone else. She'd already received her own award and given her own speech, she didn't need to hog someone else's moment.

I've never been a big fan of Zoe, as a person or as an actress. She always comes across as self-centered in interviews. Not unusual for actresses, but there is no variety, or much dimension, in her roles. You also just see Zoe. I feel the same way about Margaret Qualley. Zoe is getting attention for EP because she sang and danced, not because her acting was so amazing. Also, she really was co-lead not supporting, which also helps her.

I did not like her dress or they way it was styled. She just looked too thin, and it was a very harsh look.

This is all anyone pretty much has to say about Zendaya. Her acting talent is very mediocre.

Movie stars get measured by multiple metrics, not just acting talent/skill. There is also a charisma/magnetism metric (it factor), as well simply looking very good on film. I think Zendaya is middling on acting talent and skill, above average on charisma/magnetism, very high on looking gorgeous on film. Often with actors like that, they get better as they age because the charisma/magnetism never goes away but their skill as an actor improves with experience. Sadly, for women, they start to lose their on-screen looks due to societal expectations and they often don't get a chance to develop as an actor because they stop getting roles. Look at Demi Moore -- she finally got a super meaty role in her 60s after years of not having much at all to work with, and she knocked it out of the park. She had a different quality back at the start of her career than Zendaya has now, but about evenly matched in terms of acting skill (Demi had a habit of over-acting in her early roles, perhaps the result of coming up in soaps, while Zendaya has a tendency to under act but that's also very much the style of this era so she may just be giving directors what they want).

In any case, I can think of plenty of actors less deserving praise than Zendaya. The world needs movie stars and she is one. She's a better actor than Glen Powell (though his on-screen magnetism is through the roof).

That's a lot of words to make up for her marginal acting talent. She was a child star but doesn't seem to be excelling as an adult actress around much more talented women. A pretty face can only get you so far.

NP. Seems like she’s gotten pretty far.

Two Emmy awards and a Golden Globe, plus nominations, and working with top-tier filmmakers. She's way ahead of her peers. I think she's solid not exceptional, agree with PP she has little competition. Except for Saoirse Ronan, who is only two years older than her, but reads as more mature. Same with Florence Pugh, who is only one year older. I don't think Zendaya is in their league, at least not yet. Sophie Thatcher of Yellowjackets is one to watch, but can't really think of anyone else. Julia Garner, but she hasn't done much since Ozark.

Agree on Saoirse Ronan but for me the jury is still out on Florence Pugh. I thought she was so good in Little Women and Midsummer and then nothing she's done since has impressed me. Whereas Ronan has shown an ability to carry movies on her own over and over.

Did you see The Wonder? It's a weird movie and I didn't like it a ton, but she definitely carries that movie and she is good in it.
