Which at our agency is basically everyone. |
Why did MCPS set makeup days that are untenable for teachers? Seems like a dumb game. |
And teachers will take the blame for that, even though they have absolutely no control over school closures. And my roads aren’t fine. We had a plow come through midday yesterday, and now it is a packed sea of snow and ice. |
I'll be shocked if school opens thursday. Agree MCPS needs to build in more snow days to begin with. Seems like they try to have it both ways- say they don't have the resources/capability to clear parking lots, etc. but the schedule doesn't redlect that. |
We are in lower MoCo and our roads are not fine. They haven't been touched and are impossible w/o 4wd. |
Really? I haven't seen the type of horrific cyberbullying there was during Covid. People understand teachers are not responsible for snow decisions. It's more of a safety measure because of snow removal delays, ice at school bus stops and transportation in general. |
So the abuse hasn't happened? You are just expecting it? What will that look like? Troll posts on DCUM? |
I predict a 2h delay tomorrow |
We drove through our Silver Spring neighborhood streets yesterday in a fwd subcompact. It was slow going but fine otherwise. |
This was just a couple pages ago: “Or they could teach. Shut off the internet and have the principal and APs verifyiny there's no movie playing. Apparently we can't trust teachers to be professionals.” Want me to keep digging? Because those sorts of comments are all over this thread. Let’s not play pretend. DCUM is very unfriendly toward teachers. |
I remember my dad telling me many years ago about driving his civic during a snow storm. The SUVs around him were trying to go too fast, slipping and sliding. He was fine, just trudging along, no snow tires, no 4wd |
Seems more like a trickle, not a torrent. And DCUM is literally abusive to everyone. |
You said "a majority of the budget is sucked up by special education." That's not even remotely true. It is 13%. |
They're apparently not untenable for teachers, since MCEA didn't complain about them when the calendar was set. There's a handful of loud teachers here complaining. |
Same here. It's like that for two blocks until we get to a road that goes out of the neighborhood. That road is plowed out to major roads. It was fine. It was a slow 2 blocks, but drivable. Why do you think you can't drive on snow? |
