then we need to give those foreign fruit pickers status. we cannot have a permanent underclass who live in the shadows, are both exploited and stealing ametican identities /exploiting american citizens. i used to work in a medical clininc in TP MD and so many people were sharing SS#s and scamming medicaid. |
+1 the idea that illegal immigrants do jobs that Americans won't do has to be one of the greatest political lies told, believed and perpetuated in modern history. Employers skip over Americans intentionally to hire people here without authorization for a variety of reasons and they spread the lie that they can't find anyone to work. Even the new president of Mexico recently said this publicly. |
There is already a guest worker program for migrant farmworkers. If farms are using undocumented labor, it is because they don’t want to use existing formal channels. We can all speculate as to why. |
Once the foreign fruit pickers are given status, they will no longer be fruit pickers. You are missing the fact that these people are poor and desperate. That is why they work in the fields. How many second generation fruit pickers have you heard of? Once a person has options and security, they are not staying in the fields so this current system is dependent on continuously having a new group of poor people to exploit. The world will never run out of poor desperate people. We could not allow entire industries to operate on that model. Get those jobs automated. |
Since January 2021, sanctuary jurisdictions have released more than 22,000 jailed criminal aliens that ICE was seeking to take into custody for removal, according to ICE records on declined detainers provided to Congress.
The number has grown each year, and represents 6 to 7 percent of ICE detainers issued in those years. Each declined detainer represents a deportable criminal alien who was released back into the community and given the opportunity to prey on more victims. The number reported by ICE include detainers declined by the law enforcement agency with custody of the alien, cases in which the local law enforcement agency provided insufficient notice to ICE to arrive before the alien’s release, and early releases of aliens despite a detainer. A 2015 ICE report found that 23 percent of criminal aliens released by sanctuaries were subsequently arrested for new crimes within eight months of release. “Illegal aliens have no right to be in this country. They are not part of our social community. There is no intention that they integrate. As human beings, they have certain rights – we certainly should not turn them away in a medical emergency. As a nation, it is in our interest to provide a limited range of other services- immunizations and treatment of communicable diseases certainly fall into that category. But, if illegal aliens require other aid, it should rightly be provided in their own countries.” – August 9, 1994, Barbara Jordan When Democrats supported US workers first! |
So it boils down to employers choosing to hire undocumented workers. Want to stop this crap? You find out who's employing them and fine *them*, punish *them*, regulate *them.* Going after the migrants won't work unless there's nothing here for them unless done legally. But Trump/MAGA/any Republican really won't do that because it's too fun to punch down on the "illegals." |
Yes, jail large employers that are repeat offenders of hiring illegals. Take their companies and allow someone else to run them. Don't just give them a slap on the wrist fine but take all their income. These are scumbags and don't really care what hapens to them. But it's typical liberal mindset to not fix the genesis of the problem but throw money at the negative result. If you stop the illegal border crossings and deport a large majority of illegals, then you can reassess afterwards and see if a more sane migrant visa program can or should be instituted. But you can't just keep allowing different groups of people to come in waves and step on the rural and urban poor to maintain a permanent underclass that you pit against each other every four years to get your "safe" votes. |
There was an article about how a farmer tried to hire American workers, including some college students home for the summer. Only a handful of real Americans stayed for the duration of the harvesting. The rest left. |
And if cost of labor goes up, cost of goods will go up. Meaning a whole lot of middle class Americans won't be able to afford their current lifestyle. Ready to get an orange for Xmas, like my grandfather did? ![]() |
Koch Brothers should be fined 1 million per worker and the leadership of Koch Foods (including the Koch family) should be jailed for 1 year per worker. An example like that would cut down on the hiring of perople who are not lawfully permitted to work. |
Why do democrats take the exact opposite position when discussion of the minimum wage comes up? |
You think American companies are hiring illegal immigrants because they don’t want to hire Americans? |
Yeah I'm sure he did say that. |
Np. You’re the one who voted on the price of eggs. |
NP. So people only are truthful when what they say matches what you think? |
