Unless he’s ready to retire he needs to stay where he is. The lifestyle available in Wichita compared to Rockville is very different. Does Joan really want to live in Wichita?

Guy is an arrogant man baby with a restraining order in his past. He can wield a scalpel but not a spatula? Come on.

Pascal continues to grow on me. The tighty whities were distracting, but did you see what he was doing? Steaming his own clothes. Pascal can do laundry, he’d just rather pay someone else to do it. I hate laundry myself. I also think for Pascal there is an element of having the means to outsource when he grew up in poverty. He seems popular with the other guys and I suspect he’s getting a lot of encouragement to ham it up and quite the edit. Pascal would never make a life with Joan. She’s too basic for him.

Jordan seems very grounded and kind. I hope he sees what a shallow and self centered person Joan seems to be.

Jonathon never had a chance. Joan does not strike me as wanting minor step children, and I’d be surprised if she would date an AA man.

Keith was a great guy, but he’s not super fit. Joan was never going to choose him.

Mark is quiet and projects an older vibe. I’m not saying he’s decrepit at all, but I suspect Joan perceives him as less desirable. He also didn’t send her a message that she’s the moon and the stars. And I think she really wants that.

I think Joan has plenty of money left, because her husband was never sentenced. Criminal liability ceases with death, so no fines were ever paid. I’ve decided I really don’t like Joan. Her comments in the podcast were too much. If she has a silent belief that her husband was innocent, fine. But don’t bring up money and how hard you worked. That is just not a good look. It’s understandable that her husband of 32 years and the father of her children is the love of her life, but does she have any actual personality? IDK. I just feel pretty over Joan.

Like most pp, I think she will go with Chok and it will end badly.

Great analysis of the men.

+1 and of her too. Agree with all of that--no personality. She's dull and kind of cold. I feel like I can see when she's done with someone; she just goes cold.

I hadn't picked up on that coldness until you mentioned it but I totally see it now. She’s kind of like a crocodile, if she decides you’re not food (safety), it’s like you no longer exist to her.

I’m also realizing I know more about the men’s families than Joan’s. Family is everything but I only talk about my deceased husband? I’m sure Joan believes that family is everything to her, but maybe she’s lacking in introspection there.

I imagine her children don't want her to talk about them, so she doesn't. I think I read somewhere that her son was not at all supportive of this.

Yeah.

It doesn't ring true that a decent looking senior ER doc (who works with PLENTY of female nurses) has any trouble finding a date/partner/spouse...

unless he's known for cheating or being a jerk to the staff at work, I don't buy that he's looking for love on a TV show.

And yet he seems like one of the more sincere ones. The rest don’t seem genuinely into Joan at all.

Anonymous wrote:Also one thing I noticed: Joan is 61, and Trista is 51 but looks like she could be her daughter. It was a bit of a contrast considering how much work Joan has done to her face.

Agree. I looked up her age as I was watching- as it occurred to me that Trista was being brought in as the older 'expert', but in this case she was younger- but not by much. And somehow the contrast just made Joan seem very very naive and inexperienced.

Absolutely agree that an ER doc would have had plenty of opportunities to date/find love. As a nurse, I feel like he's THAT MD. The kind of guy you talk/joke with only enough to get by, because you feel like he's lonely/he needs to feel adored/listened to- yet he still fixates on you because you gave attention to his non-funny jokes and observations and now he won't leave you alone so your coworkers now have to chronically rescue you with fake client needs so that you can get away from him. We haven't seen his a-type side- like Chock or Cap'n Kim but I assure you it wouldn't be pleasant.

Agree that Chock is trying to make a sale.

Jordan - couldn't tell you a thing about him/boring.

Pascale - not a good match for anyone wanting to feel 'safe'. He's a twerp.

At this point I am also realizing that Joan is one of those 'prim and propper' kind of energy people... really does not give out a sexy vibe. Had not noticed it before as I guess I am ageist but she doesn't really seem to have mojo- not sure how much the others are looking for that but it will definitely be a problem for Pascale Pepe le Pew.

I’m pretty sure all the women on Gerry’s season had some work or other, even just Botox and filler, but aside from Kathy, none of it was as obvious as Joan’s. Not all injectors and surgeons are created equal, and not all faces and bodies look the same with work done. Joan has that overdone Real Housewife look to her. Some men like it, but they’re not usually high quality men. Faith, Leslie, Edith, Nancy, April, Sandra and some others I can’t remember all look prettier and more natural than Joan.

I agree with this. I think her appeal is that she's thin and blonde.

This ^^ is female gaze.

Male gaze, which matters on a show like this where you need a house full of men competing over a woman, is what is more important for the show. And male gaze wants the false eyelashes and hair extensions and a younger-looking face (even if it does look tight and weird from having had "work" done).

My DH and adult son strongly disagree with you. They dislike fake hair/ lashes/ nails and prefer more graceful aging …

This is what they say. Give them a line up of 60-something women and have them pick out who is most attractive and another story will emerge.

He’s very handsome and in great shape. Assuming they are both financially stable they can both attract someone much younger and prettier than Joan.

This is the elephant in the room. No attractive, well-off 60 year old man like Chock truly wants a 61 year old woman. Pascal is significantly older at 69, so I could see him being ok with Joan's age. Maybe. But yeah -- I thought of this issue the moment they decided to do a Golden Bachelorette. No way would they find a mansion full of senior citizen men who are attractive enough for this show who are all going to be truly interested in a 61 year old woman.

The men all stated that they were there for Joan specifically because they liked her on The Golden Bachelor.

Of course they did.

You know this is tv, right?

She's "blonde." That is hair coloring and extensions. Bad extensions, to boot.

I promise you that it would not be Joan unless she shows herself to be a brilliant dark horse. DH and DS are both brainy PhDs in difficult fields. So far her conversation has not exactly been riveting … the plastic fantastic enhancements would be seen as cons not pros by DH and DS.

That said, I hope that Joan finds someone who works for her. Good for her for putting herself out there as it must be excruciating.

You think this is some kind of flex?

Not at all - but PP mistakenly insisted my DH and DS would secretly prefer women who are attractive thanks to artificial Enhancements I don’t think that they are unusual in finding female brains and creativity more attractive than the aging Barbie aesthetic …

That said I am rooting for Joan and hope she relaxes and shows more of her genuine personality - it must be very intimidating to know what to reveal and what not on such a show.

I know plenty of men who have seen the women on Gerry’s season, and they all prefer Faith and Leslie.

I don’t think men find her type of thin atttactive . She’s straight up and down except for the breast implants. She’s not curvy. Men like curves. But I guess it’s better than being overweight and flabby.
