Because it’s the only race with an African American incumbent. Isn’t it a little interesting that she chose this race? She could have just as easily have run for Harris’s seat. But Stewart targeted Evans. I wonder why.

Stewart filed her candidacy well before Evans did. Many people here thought Evans wasn't running again.

Evans filed in plenty of time for Stewart to re-file if she hadn’t been determined to challenge Evans.

What's wrong with challenging a two-term board member? Especially given the state of MCPS over those years.

Somehow, Shebra Evans is all to blame for the state of MCPS but you won’t hear Laura Stewart say anything bad about Lynne Harris. I wonder why

For one thing, Evans has been there twice as long as Harris, and was the board president for two of her eight years. She and her followers should be coming forward to explain the reasons people should vote for her to have a third term.

You mean the 2 years when as president she championed the county wide boundary analysis that the MCCPTA busy bodies like Laura Stewart loved so much? She had the guts to make sure the analysis was done in the face of fierce opposition. Stewart can’t even stomach the idea of people reading her old tweets.

I was 100% for the boundary analysis happening, but I thought Evans's leadership there was lackluster at best. She allowed the messaging from the board to be confusing and sometimes contradictory, and as usual did not question or push back on MCPS staff statements--unforced errors that gave the opposition so much more to work with.

She totally blew it. Getting done the first county wide boundary analysis in decades was a huge L.

I’d sure love to be able to go back and see what Laura Stewart was saying on twitter during the boundary analysis. If I remember right, she had high praise for Evans and the rest of the board at the time. Really easy for her and her supporters to launch critiques from the back bench now that the Accountability and Transparency candidate has hidden her prior statements and advocacy from public view.

And Ricky F. Mui's site has been updated now to reflect that he's running for BOE: https://rickyfmui.com/

I thought the BOE’s messaging was fine. It was comments from the sideline warriors like Lynne Harris on behalf of the MCCPTA who advocated “rolling the dice” every couple years to reshuffle boundaries that gave red meat to critics of the analysis. I don’t remember Evans’ measured talking points ever being tossed about by the crazies on both sides of the debate.

You realize there is more to the internet than Twitter, right?

Of course. But apparently Transparency and Accountability only relate to certain parts of it, according to Laura Stewart. You know, those parts that don’t contain her contemporaneous thoughts and positions on issues as they happened.

Lol Steve and felon Ryan (maybe Eric, Jeremy, Jeremiah, Andrew, golf Ryan, Gordon, and Alan, too?).

Smart, progressive women who care about their community scare you.

She had time to switch races once Evans filed but she decided to run against Evans. Dang. Pesky facts.

Evans could have run in a different race. Why didn't she?
